Ask Your Questions For The Mind Behind Carnevale!
September 3, 2014 by brennon
The mysterious mind behind Carnevale is going to be on The Weekender this week and we want you to drop some questions below for him to answer! If you ever had any burning questions about the mechanics, the game world, the factions, and the upcoming Kickstarter then please drop them in the comments and we'll try and put as many to him as possible!
Above are some of the factions that are going to be appearing in the game when it returns to the tabletop later this year. The launch date for the Kickstarter is touted as the 13th of September although it will have a safety net of the 20th in case things take too long with the Kickstarter process.
As we mentioned above ask your questions on anything you like that is to do with Carnevale and you'll get your answers this coming Weekender!
This is quite a big one as Carnevale is one of the coolest games out there with some great narrative mechanics and this will be a great opportunity for you to get some burning questions answered on it. It will also be the creators first time on camera in the limelight so the mysterious mind will be revealed! All very cloak and dagger!
Get asking!

1) What happens, when I fumble, throwing my daggers? It`s still a shooting, but throwing daggers cannot jam, backfire or explode. So… just a miss? Or my characters cuts himself? 🙂
2) Drowning is not clear for me. Does it make any damage or just accumulates multiple stuns on the target? We used to make a -1 HP for each new stun and accumulated those stuns as well to make Rashaar really fearsome.
Will there be more fishmen?
I know nothing about Carnevale aside from the fact that Plastcraft makes some nice scenery for it – I’m interested in the little bits and pieces I have seen – but if you had to sum the differences of carnevale vs the other skirmish systems, how would you? (less tactical than X, more thematic than Y; etc.) Essentially, I’m a guy who has a bit of extra cash (don’t tell Corvus Belli) and I wouldn’t mind a new system, but what makes it different other than setting?
Anything with a Lovecraftian theme gets my attention! Other than the Cthulhu/Dagon/innsmouth inspired Rashaar are there any other Lovecraft inspired ideas in/or appearing in this game in the future?
I will certainly be investigating this game further and grab some of the Rashaar models!
I’d like to know a little about how and what went wrong with the game last time. Especially as it seemed to get off to a really bright start.
Also what lessons have been learnt and how it will be different this time around.
I’d also like to know if the old ranges will continue to be supported with new releases as well.
Terrain is crucial for a skirmish game like Carnavale. Do Vesper-on games have any suggestions regarding terrain that will make it easier to get playing their game without spending a fortune on a gaming board? A few companies offer print out foldable terrain models but what about ideas for cobblestone streets, bridges and other raised platforms?
Almost forgot, Any Plans for a 2 Player starter set??
The setting is genius and I’d love to see it developed more. I went in for the kitchen sink a few years back on the Indiegogo campaign. What I’d like now would be some suggestions for cost effective scenery and terrain options to make the game really shine.
Concerning terrain try my new topic on the forum:

Are there any plans to extend the game beyond Venice ?
Do they plan on doing anything with the Aristocratic faction? When I looked into it the last go around they just looked to be a bunch of Redcoats with pistols. Not that interesting considering the possibilities of the world.
