Pointless Comment: Happy almost Weekend!! YAY!! 😀 😀 😀 I hope they go down the “30K” route for the new WFB: * There are millennia of history hinted at in the AoS fluff. * It would allow all of the current AoS armies to be bought with limited cannibalization. * It provides GW with opportunities to fill in blanks and sell lots of fluff books * Those fluff source books act as supplements to support the new AoS RPG. * And it allows a new story path to move forward without re-treading ground that was stomped into agonizing tedium in… Read more »
Speaking of Video’s I did one of my own about how in my opinion I don’t think anyone (as in a Creator/Uploader) will ever be fined by the US Government and even if YouTube is given a fine because of them the creator won’t end up paying the fine. YouTube is not going to pay Lawyers to recover $42,000 by suing someone internationally. Yes losing your channel is an issue but don’t panic that you’rte suddenly going to have some giant international fine.

Does depend on the number of videos pinged as, from what I have heard, that is $42,000 per offending vid…
For most content creators with either a history or high output, that will quickly rack up into something that might be worth pursuing, if the legislation exists to do so.
I would not trust a bureaucrat working for the FTC to determine if my content is aiming at kids under 12 or not as their ignorance of pop culture is nothing compared to that of their ignorance about tabletop gaming. This is just another case of small content producers and small businesses being driven out by those who can afford legal defense and/or absorb the fines. And the result will be a poorer creative environment driven by vanilla corporate muggles; I am so thankful for OTT as it will remain a beacon of light in this Kafkaesque universe.
On GW release policy and Blood Bowl: Except for the core game nearly every release GW did (playing fields, themed dice and teams) have been limited and fallen subject to FOMO. Luckily there are ample sources for alternative BB minis and terrain that surpass GW in design (in some cases) by enormous levels.
The second topic was pure Ronseal for Pointless Views… personally it is pointless discussing/wishlisting a game that isn’t going to happen for 3 or 4 years, especially when there are lots of really good games in the same genre currently available. When there is more than just a logo, I may change my opinion that it isn’t pointless talking about it. The final point – in the short run, no the limited releases are obviously working but if a release sells out so quickly, it was obviously priced too low. I would contend for many of these boxed sets that… Read more »
Limited releases are utter rubbish. My local Warhammer store has a massive 4 of the Sisters boxes available and that’s it…
Warhammer Old World is easy for GW to revive. I imagine now that AoS has it’s own following it’ll be even easier. The Old World setting had so much history that they could run amok. There are 3 distinct ‘Ages’’, Legends, Heroes and the Age of Karl Franz. The Time of Legends (all pre-black powder, intact Dwarven and Elven Empires, The Empire in the Iron Age), has Fimir, living Khemri, Sigmar and the founding of the Empire, the Elven Sundering, the War of the Beard, the Goblin Wars, proto-type undead and vampires. Time of Heroes (Pre-colleges of Magic or engineers)… Read more »
Hurrah for the silent majority!
Oh, wait a minute…….
Bugger! Quick, back into the shadows, ssssh….
I had forgotten that someone had burned their WFB army. Untenable. If GW has made this announcement only out of spite for those who would indulge in such pointless, selfish idiocy, i applaud them.
I was listening at work and nearly fell of my chair when i heard my comment read out – it has made my week. Happy hobbying all, including those not in the silent majority!
It was a very valid point and I think it summed it up nicely.
To further a comment made by @avernos, I’ve been wondering, since last weekend, whether GW is turning from the “we make minis and the rules are a support for them” to a producer of IP. I’m just thinking of all the text that they now produce, compared to say 10 to 15 years ago. Back then a Codex release and the models listed there in would take 2 to 3 months to come out, supported via White Dwarf. Then you’d get a WHFB Army book for about the same length. And you get Black Library releasing a novel or two… Read more »
It’s an interesting thought. They clearly have an IP but one of the reasons it’s very inconsistent is they don’t have an plan or over riding theme. I have a friend who submitted a story who knew nothing of the setting and knew a man who wrote for the comic who also didn’t know anything about the storyline. They will let anyone write for them and it can be hugely different in how they approach the story and how canon it is.
Sometimes quantity and quality is not the same
Hollywood and TV companies own a shed load of IP going back years that they’ve never done anything with
Just curious as to what you have in mind there…
Any particular examples?
I would guess the same could be said of DC and Marvel comics over the years re the inconsistency.
Let alone the movies and TV shows based on those properties 😉
Exactly. I don’t think the volume they produce marks a change in direction, in fact when they had less to produce the IP was probably smaller but more tightly defined
A sensible article about COPPA and its impact on channels is available here :

As for GW, I wonder how long until release fatigue settles in as many customers start to carefully assess their FOMO feelings against the pile of un-played boxes they’re struggling to store somewhere?
Pointless as ever. well done chaps. I would like to ask a question if I may, What has happened to John, Lance and the others, we seem to have gone from various presenters to just four, not that I have a problem with the four. I just wondered what happened to the others. If I am putting my nose in to something I shouldn’t then I apologize.
Gathered from chat here and elsewhere, @warzan has Manflu ( a terrible and misunderstood affliction ) and @johnlyons is neck deep in a big project.
Sisters should have been a two or one week pre-order. No stock left, if they want it they click pre-order. The GW hype train generator has overstayed its welcome, imo.
the problem is that the twats running country’s are the biggest spoiled immature things on the world.
kid have being getting adult games for years.
The sisters are all full multipart kits. Saw them all at the Open day this weekend & they’re unbelievable
