Let’s Play: A Song of Ice and Fire – A Clash of Kings
January 4, 2018 by dignity
Michael Shinall from CMON is back for another game of A Song of Ice and Fire and this time we're playing the Clash of Kings scenario.
If you haven't seen the game played before you can watch our First Let's Play video with Michael which goes over the rules and mechanics of this miniatures skirmish game.
The game will have five different game scenarios or “modes”. The one the guys are playing involves players only starting with a small portion of their army, with the rest arriving throughout the game.
The other objectives are:
- A Game of Thrones: Armies fight to claim various Objectives across the battlefield, each granting a unique power.
- A Feast for Crows: The mental fatigue of the battlefield takes its toll on units as bodies stack up across the battlefield.
- A Storm of Swords: One army must hold off their opponent in a mighty castle siege.
- The Winds of Winter: Both armies take to the battlefield to complete secret missions, hidden from their opponents.
Do you prefer this mode to A Game of Thrones?

Gotta say, still not overly impressed with gameplay. All the LD tests and losing figures by how may you fail by, plus the random charge, meh.
So far I’ll be using the figures for other systems
I love the scenario, very interesting tactics wise.
The amount of casualties from just morale tests is pretty steep especially when only suffering one casualty and sometimes zero! GW,s similar method of far better where it’s based on casualties rather than just a random roll, may change to this method when I get the game.
If the late pledge is still open at the end of the month, i have a sneaky suspicion i’ll be backing this.
