Let’s Play: Relic Knights with Rory’s Story Cubes
March 14, 2017 by dignity
With Relic Knights underway and all you excited backers out there we decided to get some games on the tabletop.
For all you Relic Knights backers out there we have an awesome Let's Play with the maker of Story Cubes. In this game Rory will be playing the Black Diamond faction and Justin is joined by Mike to oppose him with the Star Nebula Corsairs.
Please keep in mind that these rules have changed and do not reflect how the game will play in 2nd edition.
Who will win this time? Place your bets in the video poll above!

I had a blast playing this game against Mike. Hope you all enjoy it too.
So is Relic Knights not a race game, or is it more than that?
Relic Knights is not a race game at all, although it does have one faction (Cerci Speed Circuit) that are built around racing teams. It’s an objective based skirmish game, where (as this video shows really well) you need to focus on getting your objectives rather than hurting the enemy (unless hurting them IS your objective). Sometimes it can feel like a race game though, if your objective involves transporting tokens from Objective A to Objective B, or getting to opposing objectives to sabotage them.
Really enjoyed watching this. We were just saying at the last RK tournament how there aren’t very many Relic Knights gameplay videos out there, so this is great. Would be good to see another one of these once people have the hang of 2nd Edition rules – the only shame about this video was that it was not put up sooner given how long ago it was filmed.
Cool battle report. It showed off some of the game dynamics really well.
I enjoyed it, the game was cool and all the players were fun to watch. I’m even more glad I backed the recent KS and, luck willing, will locate other players in this gaming deficient city so that I too can feel the sting of the deck gods. It’s also nice to see the maker of the story cubes that Warren gleefully convinced me to purchase also paints figures 🙂
well played Mike and Rory. good point made by Rory at the end about the objectives focus of the game.
Nice game, a bit disappointed though, I was expecting to hear some interesting ideas on how to use Rory’s story cubes for creating scenarios for your tabletop games.
There’s no stopping you..
Indeed, the title got me by surprise, that is all.
