Let’s Play: Dark Souls The Card Game
February 6, 2018 by thisisazrael
It's time to engage in jolly co-operation as Az, Lance, and Coco try to survive a game of Dark Souls The Card Game from Steamforged Games due to release 16th March 2018.
Playing as a tank Knight, a healing Herald, and range damaging Sorcerer we'll be making our way through progressively more difficult enemy encounters, gathering souls and equipment, which can then be used to improve our deck of cards, before facing the final boss fights!
Your deck contains equipment, items, and spells which are used to heal allies, damage enemies, or block incoming damage. However, the abilities of these cards have a stamina cost to play. Generally, the more stamina cards from your hand you use to play an ability the more damage you may do or incoming damage you may block,
However, a players deck represents their health, making each encounter a delicate balancing act. If there ever comes a point when a player has to draw a card and cannot, they are out, and all players must return to the bonfire to rest and recover.
There are five bonfire cards in total so making sure you use them sparingly and deciding when to return will be very important.
We had a lot of fun with this one but let us know what you think.
Will you take on the challenge?

Got to love a Lets Play… damn and it is good there goes my money again 😀
Hmm, I seem to like this better than the board game.
Mid year this year Eric Lang is releasing the Expansion to Bloodbourne, as a compare and contrast I hope you guys consider playing that game as well.
I’m not saying the ball is already rolling on this…. but… the ball is already rolling on this 😛

Thank you Az that is excellent news!
PRAISE THE SUN!
Really liked that playthrough. A few mechanics are great at this (loot only after resting, your deck is your life pool). But in total I like the board game better. Combat seems more dynamic. Upgrades seem more stable. And it got minis 😀
Great playthrough, very enjoyable watch. The mechanics I think whilst they differ in a few places, it still feels very much Dark Souls, like in the risk vs reward of losing your progress vs pushing on. Also just the fact that the monsters attack you as soon as you walk into a room, and you are on the defensive from turn one, again feels very DS. The art, monsters, heroes and theme again is very on point. Even the character classes ability to diversify and potentially all use the same spells and equipment feels very much like the game. the dream team is back. i’m definitely a fan of the art for dark souls but i’m not the biggest fan of PVC so this is spot on for me. the emergence of narrative adventure card games with games like this, gloom of kilforth, arkham horror and escape the dark castle is like wise hitting a sweet spot for me, i just can’t get anyone i game with to play a competitive LCG or CCG.
