Orcs & Goblins, 3rd Range For Warhammer: The Old World!
January 22, 2024 by brennon
Warhammer: The Old World launched over the weekend and Games Workshop took the time to drop a preview for the third Fantasy range that will be joining the Bretonnians and Tomb Kings Of Khemri. The Orc & Goblin Tribes are getting ready to rampage across The Old World once more.

The rules for your Orc & Goblin Tribes are already available as part of the Ravening Hordes book but if you want to delve a bit deeper into the army then there is the Arcane Journal that you can snap up. This will come with additional lore, maps and new special characters for you to use with your army. There are also two Armies Of Infamy (different ways of building armies with the faction), the Nomadic Waaagh! and the Troll Horde. Bonus magical items, spells and more are also within these pages.
If you're not lucky enough to have a bunch of Orc & Goblin Tribes miniatures in your collection already, there is also going to be a Battalion Box coming out to help you get your army started. It should be mentioned that unlike the launch boxes for Bretonnia and Khemri, these new Battalion Boxes will only come with miniatures.

This set comes with classic plastic kits from Warhammer Fantasy Battles. You get two Orc Boar Chariots, thirty-one Orz Boyz and forty Goblins. This means you can build smaller units (or larger ones) depending on the way that you want to take your army.
Additional returning miniatures are spreading across plastic, metal and Forge World resin releases to help fill in the gaps within your collection. For example, the classic Orc Bosses are coming back (both foot and mounted) who you can use as your mighty heroes and battle standard bearers.

More of your classic Orc Boyz and Orc Arrer Boyz are also going to be landing with the variety of weapon options that you'd expect from the range. I imagine, like most good Orcs, you'll be ditching the bows and arrows and embracing the choppas. Leave the ranged stickin' to the Goblins I say.

Thundering cavalry is also on the way with the Orc Boar Boyz making sure to rampage through enemy battle lines.

On top of that, lots of additional kits are going to be landing. If you can think of an old plastic kit, it is probably coming back. That means your classic Black Orcs, Night Goblins, Wolf Riders and more.
When it comes to other materials, metal and Forge World resin is on the cards with the likes of the Troll Hag coming in that resin material.

Additional miniatures in resin include the Bonegrinder Giant, a couple of Command Sets for Orcs and Goblins plus the Orc Warboss On Wyvern and the Orc & Goblin Giant.

Metal miniatures include a rather extensive list of characters but also the likes of the classic Stone Trolls that I know everyone loves. These are some of my favourite miniatures, mainly because they're so iconic, and it's good to see them returning. Even the fabled Marauder Giant is going to be coming back on a Made To Order basis.

The list of additional metal miniatures also includes the likes of the Goblin Bosses, Goblin Wolf Rider Bosses, Goblin Bolt Throwa, Goblin Doom Diver Catapult, Goblin Wolf Chariot, Orc Shamans, Orc Big ‘Uns, Orc Big ‘Uns Command, Snotling Swarms, Snotling Pump Wagon, Common Trolls and Classic Ogres.
New Miniatures!
As well as all of those returning miniatures, there are also some new miniatures coming to the range in Forge World resin. The first is the snarling Black Orc Big Boss who is getting ready to launch himself at his next, bigger and badder foe. That axe looks like it would lop the head off a heavily armoured warrior with ease.

One of the fun new special characters is Ogdruz Swampdigga, Da Troll Calla who has some fun Goblin attendants by his side.

The rules for Ogdruz Swampdigga can be found in the Arcane Journal that we mentioned above. I am very much on board with the idea of a Troll-themed army. Talking of Troll-themed armies, I would love to see Throgg come back for Chaos forces to lead his band of brutal killers.
Will you be diving into Warhammer: The Old World with the Orc & Goblin Tribes?

Oh look, my 6th edition Orcs are coming back… is now the time to cut mine from their sprues? XD
Either cut them off the sprue for gaming or sell them for a pretty penny haha!
Been there, some that.
Do I have Orcs ? Boy, do I ever…
Besides my long retired Night Goblin army – which featured 5 Doom Divers and, thanks to them, did very well in 5th edition, thank you very much, I have TONS more Goblins -Citadel, Harlequin, Vendel…- even an unopened box of plastc Night Goblins from abut 2000. And a Battlemasters box full of Orcs, most of them from that game as well as Grenadier. Not to forget that awesome Goblin War Giant, also Grenadier. He’s lead, ergo HEAVY. And oh, look here, another box full of Orcs…..
I scare for the price… FW… “Two” minis… But the new shaman IS gold for mordheim… Oh shit
I’m certainly interested in the old classic stone trolls. Let’s just see how much GW sells them for first.
I think the new old armies they’ve released should give you an idea of what to expect …
And given that they want folk to pay 60 Euro for 3 kniggets on horses we should expect the worst.
The new/re’forged figures showed are looking fantastic for the game table’s.
