Team Yankee – Oil War Book Chat
April 12, 2019 by johnlyons
John is joined in the studio by Freddy from Battlefront Miniatures to have a chat about the new Oil War book for Team Yankee.
The guys lay down the law when it comes to how important a release this is for Team Yankee with John, in particular, being quite effusive on Oil War. With Oil War a new theatre is opened in Team Yankee with the Middle East. And most importantly it opens up the type of army lists that players can run with the Iranians fronting a veritable smorgasbord of tank options.
How excited are you to get your hands on Oil War?

Just got the book, what i like about it is that you can replay the Iran Iraq war, very nice and the Bekaa Valley, Peace for Galilee campaign in 1982 Israel vs Syria ( not much of a contest but you can still have some good fun ) What i like is also that you can also do Desert Shield, Desert Storm ( US vs Iraqis ) another bonus. It is a neat book. And it makes me wonder about what will happen else where like Africa proper, South/Central America. Then you will have China trying to STOMP! Japan. And trying to subjugate the Independent Nation of Taiwan.
Can’t wait to get the book, should really refresh the game as it’s been suffering player fatigue I think… would agree it’s the most important , 4 new factions and opens up so many more options for play and allows proxy play for gulf war too. Would love to see a book for the med/ Africa soon…. so many potential conflicts there
I love the fact that the army that I own (French) went to Desert Storm dressed in standard olive green 😀
Oil War might be what gets me into Team Yankee. I would have been 11 when the First Gulf War started and I remember collecting Gulf War stickers (long lost now) and lots of this remind me of it. Very tempted with the Iraqis. Also does anyone do 28mm or bigger models of Saddam? I’m thinking they might make good statues!
