New Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Trailer Hits The Net!

It's happening again! The Star Wars hype machine begins to build with another epic trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first entry in a series of films that will start to explore the background of the universe on screen. Watch it now!
Set between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope it follows a group of Rebels as they battle against the Empire and try and steal the plans for the Death Star.
The characters look great and the villains equally so. Those black armoured Storm Troopers are called Death Troopers and they look mean as hell! This film has the feeling of a War movie but with the added spice of Sci-Fi thanks to Star Wars.
What do you think?
There will be lots of bothans dying, i presume.
@badula nope the Bothans are perfectly safe, that is until they need to go and steal the plans of Death Star II in a couple of years.
hmm the dirty dozen in Star Wars?
On the bright side. They put Darth Vader on the poster for the fans.
that’s not the bright side … it’s the dark side 😉
@buggeroff To be fair with all the other classic movies Episode IV references it’s a fair thing to do. Episode IV shares a huge amount with the 7 Samurai which is essentially half the source material for Dirty Dozen anyway! It goes further than that, look at Hidden Fortress, Damn Busters, Guns of Navarone, Metropolis, and I could go on, all of these movies are clearly direct influences on Episode IV alone! I’d say Rogue One is pretty much following in the tradition of how the Original Trilogy came to be, I hope it doesn’t disappoint, like basically everything that’s… Read more »
Awesome trailer, got the day booked off work. Now someone give me a 15mm wargame with AT-AT’S to scale!
yeaaah baby
the man in black is back.
vader is going to tear the galaxy apart , we are going to be reminded of “the power of the dark side”.lord vader is going to be brutal.
if you have not seen the rogue one sizzle they showed at STAR WARS celebration , its worth a watching.
It’s such a trite expression I know, but: nerdgasm! 😀
The Force is definitely strong with this one. It looks stunning and has that proper lived-in look that the original films had – TFA also had that and I think using practical effects where possible gives an undeniable weight or substance to the spectacle. Of course interesting characters and a glorious plot are essential. I like the soundtrack in the trailer – I hope it is an indication of what is to follow.
Given I am normally fairly flat to Star Wars films this actually look like it could be a good film for those the standard recipes doesn’t really thrill
Just what I always wanted, a Star Wars prequel at last 🙂
Hey … it’s Buffy the Sith slayer.
Or should that be Faith ? 😉
This looks like it’s going to be good.
And based on that trailer more tabletop action is likely to happen.
Let the merch flow…….. I wonder if they will snub the female lead again like they did for The Force Awakens
That’s funny because I’m pretty sure @warzan mentioned something similar a few months ago on a weekender, yet I recall no such snubbing. On September 4th last year (Force Friday, when most of the merchandise showed up), shops were jam packed with anything they could get their hands on that had the word Star Wars on it. Rey and Fin were well represented in action figure form, even at places like Sainsburys, with a wider selection (including Rey costumes for kids etc) at dedictated toy shops and a few exclusive bits – Rey backpacks, pyjamas, that sort of thing –… Read more »
There was such snubbing. It was widely reported that some licensees reported they weree told not to do any, and Disney themselves later admitted to it though justified it on the grounds that they were concerned about spoilers. I recall this conversation being done to death at the time, so I shall leave it at that.
Rogue One is looking better and better with each new trailer. Who ever edited this trailer did great job.
Hmmm… what could make Star Wars better?
Donnie Yen; that’s what. I anticipate much Storm Trooper pummel-age.
Rooting for the Empire… So much cooler….
I thought I saw Tie Fighters with square wing-panels :-O but after lots of pausing and zooming they were just regular wings.
I think Mark Kermode said the best Star Wars plots were played with toys and that’s why we as Generation X/Millennial adults have such high expectations 🙂
that ‘tank’ droid is gonna be awesome – protocol droid – no way!
Cautiously optimistic about this one. I wonder if Disney would ever release a directors cut that showed the original vision for the film? I’m willing to bet almost nobody made it out of the mission alive in THAT cut!
I’m really liking the Samurai theme.
And it will be great to see Forest Whittaker back on screen (Ghost Dog?)
– Got to forget the Key & Peele – Baby Forest sketch 🙂
Looks good the only bad thing is the timing, Kenny Baker (aka R2D2) died today.
@darthcheese, my thought exactly when I saw the trailer. That makes a great minis battle game.
I am not to keen on the idea of death troopers, except if the movie explains why they don’t exist later. Got disbanded (read force choked) after the plans were lost to the Rebellion? If that’s in the movie, then I like their badass look.
Always wanted to see Dark Forces the movie. Looks more and more like we might be getting one. Never imagined Kyle having a french-ish accent though.
Disney is going to bleed this thing for all it is worth. Ughhhhh.
