Time of Legends: Joan of Arc – Narrative Demo Game
September 15, 2017 by dignity
Leo and Benoit are back in the studio again to tell us about the narrative scenarios within Time of Legends: Joan of Arc from Mythic Games.
In this scenario, we're playing with a specific werewolf in the town and it's up to Benoit to find out who it is, snatch them up and string them up to gain favour with the forces of good.
What kind of scenarios would you like to play in Joan of Arc?
Very interested in this game, backed Mythic Battles and have some cash ear-marked for this one. Will watch this video again to wrap my head around the turn by turn actions and rules explanations. Would be good to see another playthrough without the heavy rules explanations as well though just to see how the game flows. I’m sure those videos are coming.
The game looks interesting, but it’s a bit much to take in with all the tokens, cards and multi-colored dice flying around. I do like how you can generate a force by discovering the map.
Looks good, shiny
Looks good, I would like to see an other scenario to get a better grip on the working system of the rules.
Great looking game but those wide grey borders really spoil the look of the tiles. Also, get a playmat and dice box
OK, this is not what I expected to see, it’s much more interesting!
I’d love to see how this also translates into mass battle mode which is more what I expected from the 15mm minis.
I like it. This reminds of the file ‘The Name of the Rose’ (Sean Connery & Christian Slater) – good old medieval whodunnit. Cadfael could be another source of inspiration.
that’s guys. it’s a breath of fresh air having the RPG elements in a battle game, and in 15mm no less. wonderful to see a company thinking outside the box.
Thought I couldn’t afford to pledge, it seems that since I won’t buy pre-order Frostgrave : Ghost Archipelago, and that a friend of mine will share with me, I’ll eventually have enough.
This video totally sold it.
Shut up, and take my money…
I definitely want to see another scenario, especially considering how one-sided this one ended up being. That early werewolf reveal really screwed poor Justin.
(Can’t wait to back this bad mofo though!)
I really like the setting for this game – and I am a fan of Leo and the guys at Mythic Games after their sensational Mythic Battles: Pantheon Kickstarter last year. I don’t yet fully grasp the mechanics of this game. I follow how things work in this scenario, but I would like a better understanding of the way the rules function more generally. MB: P has very clean rules and it’s easy to see how they work across different types of games. At the moment, I can’t say the same for Joan of Arc. Hopefully, this can be resolved… Read more »
Now I know I will have to join that kickstarter. This game seems to have not only lovely minis but so many options and depth
The game looks awesome.
Game looks amazing – rules seem hard to understand, anyone else confused?
Normally for this sort of thing, I would have said either play an RPG or a battle game, I like both, and generally prefer to keep them distinct. However, this is a really nice take on doing a very very flavourful objective, with some RPG elements inside a battle game. Really nice ideas. Looks like a lot of book keeping with the cubes and tokens currently, but far from insurmountable, might be once I’d had a go that would all click naturally in place.
