Let’s Play: Wolsung – Market Yard Bank Heist
February 13, 2017 by lancorz
Welcome to the Cage, Beasts. Lance and Justin return for a battle shrouded in the clouds of steampunk Lyonesse with Wolsung from Micro Art Studio.
We are playing the Bank Heist scenario as the two guys duke it out, head to head in the Steampunk city. Lance is playing the Inventors and Justin is playing his faithful Scylla.
Please let us know in the comments below what you think of our new rig inside the cage. Would you like to see more battles inside the room of mystery?

what a great scenario guys cant wait for m,y little one to go to sleep so I can watch it !
I’m sorry to say that was a bit painful to watch. Is that Roberto character really that OP or was the knowledge gap between Justin and Lance to blame? I’m wondering, if someone does target Roberto immediately, will they be able to do the same amount of damage as Roberto’s “Tag, you’re dead!” gameplay? And if you fail to kill him in one go what can he do in return? The new camera set-up looks good. Regarding the game may I humbly suggest the following: Play the scenario one or more times before putting it on tape. That get’s you… Read more »
Roberto is a beast, but he has some pretty hard counters. Mainly he can only shoot his contract. If you keep the contract model hidden or out of LoS he can’t really do anything but move. Justin also didn’t use Roberto’s booby trap skill, a personal favorite of mine and what he brings to the table to offset how easy it is to counter the big gun. I would also say that Luigi was deployed poorly. His speed and jet pack allow him to make big moves. Luigi has effectively an 18″ charge range against anyone not under a roof… Read more »
“The way I described Wolsung to people is that all the heroes are cheating, that’s how it balances itself.” – love it!
@itsuncertainwho – Ah I totally forgot to use them will have to show them off in another game 🙂
Roberto needs to choose his Contract before the deployment and cannot attack anything else until he clears the contract.
@bucketknight – Roberto can be that nasty its why he has to pick a single target at a time to draw back the fact that he is such a killer, if you look at the battle I fought with warren he kept the target hidden so that I couldn’t get a shot off on him 🙂 as to scenario I think if this happens again I may decide to extend the game an extra round or two to give us a chance to get the objective 🙂
Extending the game a few turns was my first thought too. I think that would be a good solution.
Also Roberto chooses his next target at the start of his next activation, so he actually can only kill one target a turn even if its on his first action.
great thing is that you can use them for character you want to keep away from you forces, or to deny opponent a VP. choose model you are afraid of and your opponent will do all job for you 😀
I do like this game.
Think you need more than three turns.
I did enjoy this let’s play just not as much as some others. I think it may have been indeed related to the ability to achieve the goal but sometimes you don’t know how it will work until you do try it. I think the set up was great. No Justin I do not think you are sneaky you actually try to be helpful to your opponent but you do have a love for characters with very powerful special abilities but not nearly as bad as the fellows I play with. Also I may be thinking of an earlier rules… Read more »
good fun but way to much to walk for 3 turns to complete scenario,
new cameras setup is great
@radegast6 Indeed, 3 turns was too short. I was too preoccupied with the objective to realise it was too short at the beginning.
Overall it looks good, new setup will work wonders, I would like to suggest bluetack the terrain you play on, seen the terrain move on the battle report looks unprofessional in contrast with the setup.
After you get the hand of it I would suggest some GUI for the games you play.
I like the game in the new location versus the weekender table. If you are looking for suggestions, I have the following: 1) Have a play through or two before the video. It is unclear how much Lance understood all the rules. Even in a fun game, in would be smoother if everyone had better understanding. 2) Before starting the game, give the audience an overview of the game. What was the game? Missed it except for the title. What was the theme, what are we doing in the terrain? Yeah, missed that too. I understand getting into it but… Read more »
Once upon a time (back in 2016) I stumbled across a game of Wolsung on YouTube. Followed the links to a place (or entity?) known as Beast of War. And I haven’t left since. In fact, I ended up sneaking in backstage.
I have yet to buy my first Wolsung minies, but I so enjoy your games, play throughs and Lets Play. And one of these days I’ll het my hands on a Ven Rier starter box.
Like the cameras and setup in the ‘new’ room.
Thorvald has a shield in 2 flavors (shimmering and deflective) that stact and has a six inch bubble. That 20 wounds and 2 armor bonus in a 6 inch radius around Thorvald So annoying against sniper. :).
@dignity do bootcamp so you can beat me up .
