Used to watch Who when it was on… wandered away with McCoy because it was crap. Ecclestone brought me back, Tennant was good, Smith with adequate, Crapaldi was somehow worse than McCoy and whatchamacallit finally drove me away with the help of her piss poor companions. Anyway… about the game… I bought original Who game from c7 and never got around to playing it. Seemed unbalanced with regard to the Doc and companions. 5E seems an odd choice, but the trend seems to be… do a 5e version of every game despite some settings not fitting the rules well… because… Read more »
I think it’s down to people not wanting to learn another system forcing companies to do 5e. you’re wrong about bernie eccelstone mind you he was shite. Stop at McCoy and never look beyond him
I never said Ecclestone was good… I rejoined then and watched because Billie Piper as Rose was an interesting companion… made better when Tennant stepped in.
I think they’ve done a neat job tweaking 5e to work with Doctor Who. The main thing is if it brings someone over from normal D&D and they then buy into the more bespoke Doctor Who series – it’s done it’s job. That’s the hope from my viewpoint any who.
Ah, the 4th Doctor, Tom Baker my favourite. I’ve been watching some of the old series on Brit Box, as well as all of Blake’s 7.
I’m about half way through and have been imagining all of the scenes in the proper way to look like 1970s BBC sets. Fantastic.
It is so utterly wild how well Gerry just became the Doctor…it’s almost like he’s a timeless being from the beginning of the universe.
Yes, I’ve just finished the video and some of those speeches were great. I like how well the system really made this session feel like a Doctor Who episode.
Did something happen around the 1hr30 mark? Seems to skip some time. Anyway, very cool viewing and Tom Baker was portrayed excellently! I read a lot of complaining about the 5e thing, but an rpg is whatever you make it – the rules are secondary and can always be changed to suit. Relax people.
someone called to Emmett’s door. Thankfully it happened mid roll so it didn’t skip anything but there was a pause
This set in London?
Great video you forgot your psychic paper Dr Gerry.
