Today we're joined by Samuel who's not playing Total War with us today, but his own game Hey Comrade!

Hey Comrade! is a fun and fast-paced card game about creating your own five-year plan to take control of the Communist Party! Our glorious leader has died. It is now up to you, comrade, to unite the party. Put together your very own five-year plan to take control and become supreme leader of the Motherland.
Do you have any great communist puns to add to Hey Comrade!?
On Communist puns, was going to suggest ‘Quit Stalin for time’ but you beat me to it lol.
Currently watching so hope these won’t come up later in the vid:
Spud-nik
Come-hear-sah!
Marx for trying
Getting Hammer-ed and Sick-le
Kremlins in the works
Russian about
Haha these are brilliant, we’ll definitely add them to the list of possibilities 🙂
🙂
Also, not Communist exactly, but you need a ‘Nuclear Wessles’ card. 😉
Also, also – for Communist/Russia puns, grab any Bond film featuring Soviets and swipe the name of the Bond Girl. ;P
We may have some more Nuclear cards planned if we hit a certain stretch-goal…you could say there could be a Nuclear Winter planned….
Are you being Tsar-castic?
To steal a policy you could use the “Politbiro”, or the “Handdropov” where the player has to discard their entire hand and pick up the same amount of cards from the deck.
We definitely could! We have a few extra cards and more planned for stretch goals to add to the deck if we’re lucky enough to surpass our goal but that could definitely be a card we take under consideration.
143 times! (yeah I kinda went crazy and counted). That’s how many times “comrades” were said, give or take a few (it did get a bit difficult counting sometimes. The “comrades were flying across the table like crazy :p)
I am definitely backing this one. And you should too, Comrade! Now Quit Stalin and let the kickstarter begin :p
Haha Lina you are too dedicated 🙂 Thanks so much for your support, not long until the Kickstarter now.
So I should be Putin my Russian puns here then?
Oh my…
I’m reminded of a Ken Dodd joke…”What a beautiful day to go the the Kremlin and ask ‘Is Len in?’
Before I Trotsky off I’d just like to say that I really like the feel of this game. Well done! Top Marx!
Thankyou Comrade! Been pretty nervous showcasing it to everyone, hopefully folks enjoy it as much as I enjoy shoehorning in puns whenever I can
Don’t know if this would hurt the game but maybe put in a few negative wild cards. Maybe “Reagan the deck” where the player gets to reorder the top cards of the draw.
This looks like a great game. Rules are nice and easy, but room for lots of shenanigans. I’ll certainly be looking to back this when it launches on KS.
@stainless001 What’s the best way for us to know when it launches please?
Why, I’m glad you asked! Also super happy you like the look of the game, simplicity is definitely something I wanted to focus on and then leave room for your gaming group to just have a good laugh. As for keeping in the know there are four things you can do: 1. Head over to the Kickstarter and give it a heart, you’ll get an email when it goes live: https://kck.st/2rhrCV3 2. Seems like a fun game. I think it does suffer from the card and hand management aspect, which is hard to remove from these types of games. There was a bit too much dead time. You said it was because you played aggressive, but your game dictates that you deny cards in hand to your opponents, so you have no real advantage to not play you action cards. Yes if you are left with policy cards you open yourself up to getting cards stolen, but when you don’t, then you are going to play all you can to stall everyone… Read more »
Hey marktarver, you raise some very valid points, as was said in the video we were working off the prototype deck and some cards will be added throughout the campaign which will greatly speed up the flow of play and add greater risk for instance some that will allow you to draw two cards from the deck, others that will allow you to steal a completed policy from another player. These cards will be limited in order to add balance but for sure the gameplay above was a lot slower than what we expect it’ll play out, partly due to… Read more »
