June 7, 2024 by lloyd
It's OTTWeekender time! With this week and weekend being the 80th Anniversary of D-Day, we look at some well known and some unsung heroes and personalities from World War 2 that you could add to your 28mm Historical wargames. We found a fantastic resource of character miniatures from both Hollywood History and real life that you could use in games of Bolt Action, Chain Of Command or V For Victory.

I love Eskice’s stuff. They print well, and you get such a great little variety. Another good WW2 is Battlecat Minis (or Warbear Historical), they are going through a name change. Splitting off into two companies. They are a great line too, of the less represented countries. They have a line of Polish, that is great.
We shall have to look at that in a future show
Stoessi’s heroes are pretty awesome!
Yay it’s weekender time folk’s ?
Angry Bubo ?
The general with the map could be that one in the (eagle has landed) played by whats, his, face J.R. In Dallas ?
larry hagman lol
I think it was representing Ernest Hemmingway
The weekenders back….Yippeeeeee!
Warpath’s 15 city’s ?
Normal service is resumed
so … first Lloyd build Rome, then Gerry does the rigging … and then the world ends ?
I did the rigging a year ago and Lloyd hasn’t built Rome yet, you’re freaking out son stay off the disco biscuits!
The should make a stingray ship for the Deepwars game ??
it has begun, weekender time!!
Good book recommendation for someone looking for something a little different
Second Front the allied invasion of France – June 1942 to 1943
By Alexander M Grace SR.
First hand accounts, day by day, of the allied 1942 assault on Southern France from both sides of the line.
Written in max hastings, Antony Beevor style a great bit of historical fiction
Will keep an eye out for that – sounds fascinating
It’s a good read and flows quite nicely. I won’t put any spoilers up but I got the dates wrong, D day is not June but December 1942/43 ?
Bolt action one of those games I’ve always wanted to play but haven’t yet!
I am getting a demo next week from a friend. Hope i can start play soon. wink, wink
Good one guy’s ?
I’m very interested in winning that bundle! I’ve just started with Chain of command with some of my university friends. Good shout about Stoessi’s heroes as well, I backed one of the lower tiers of the Arnhem heroes kickstarter, so I did not get access to the characters, like Frost and Urquhart, the Stoessi’s heroes models of them however are jolly nice
The new FrostGrave Cultists look cool. John Blanche’s minis look great too!
Weekender time!
That’s a great prize. I had a great time at games expo and met and had chat with Lloyd. Roll on next year.
Vynestra looks interesting. Knew nothing of it.
Great episode!
I’d never heard of it but Friday night I wandered hall one and met the ladies, it sounded fascinating and looked fantastic
Great minis from Stoessi. I never realy liked the flush around fantasy. But a realy like the real back storys.
Wow,you’ve finally got me to register. And as for Mantic’s rebels, it’s about time but I got so fed up of waiting I raided GW/WA/OP/Etsy and MMF for characters and races to proxy in. Looks like I won’t be funding Ronnie’s trips to support MUFC.
he’s a City fan, but you shouldn’t fund that either
Love the Stoessi’s figures, but man the shipping costs are crazy . Over double the price of the figure I want. I know I live roughly 7000 km fron the UK store but about $25 to ship half an ounce of resin . I’ll spend my money at US mail order shops instead
think how we feel, there’s a lot of great US minis and the shipping is insane
I understand your pain . Its just the wide variable in shipping costs that I don’t get. I’ve got 5 pounds weight of books from Poland and shipping was $20 and they arrived in a week , other times its 3 times cost of the product and it takes 3 months . I have found the figures I want, listed on a small online seller but as of now they are out of stock , hopefully they’ll get restocked and let me know . I guess it’s the price we pay for being in a niche hobby , everything has… Read more »
