Great T-Rex song… suggestion for a Gerry Can video: what piece of terrain can be made from a beer can except the usual silo/tank.
Cheers mate.
What did we do to deserve @ludicryan
Vallejo do a nice New Wood colour in their Panzer Aces range, not orange at all, would be something similar to the light brown colour.
it may be the same colour there are duplications throughout the 3 ranges, please note I am not counting the 2 airbrush ranges as separate ranges
This is a big help as I have the soul hunters on order from the Lost World Exodus range and wooden planks are part of the base. I knew I wanted that wood effect but didn’t know where to start so thanks ?
Any chance we could have a tutorial on using the Liquitex acrylic inks
it is on the list but it may be down the line a little
That’s great to hear thank you ?
The Golden Brown paint seems to have a texture like sun
Just with the black wash it gives it a very nice comic book look
let me guess…. that golden brown… she runs with your mind? though out the night right?
You know her to!
very nice paint tutorial @avernos
Nice to wake up to this.
This was brilliant thank you. Vallejo Model Colour do a really nice heavy wash/contrast type paint called Wood Grain for doing varnished /dark reddy brown wood. It wouldn’t work at all for what you have done (I don’t think it’s a natural colour) but is nice for other things, including gun stocks and barrels.
They also do a golden wood grain colour as well.
Uncle Gerry, could you fix it for me… I don’t have an airbrush. Would you suggest any brush on primers I could use when a rattle can seems like over kill for a single mini or small piece of basing etc.?
Could I apply the Israeli Sand airbrush primer with a brush? My wraithbone brush on primer has been good, but has begun to dry out (thank you citadel pots design)…
I started using those vallejo airbrush primers with a brush and they work well, but with the airbrush primers they need a day to properly cure before painting. I think Lina uses the Army Painter brush on primer and it works well for her
Will second what Gerry says – and even though I own an airbrush, I’m more likely to brush it on than take the time and energy to get the airbrush up and running then clean it… As a caveat, I find the white and grey primers don’t give as good a base colour on plastic minis with a brush as the rest of the range…don’t know if it is just me though.
Another great vid there @avernos and totally helpful.
I would love to see and another one on old wood and also on sand/desert basing too.
Old wood would be good next! I know the basic idea – old wood is usually grey, not brown; but when I paint wood grey it looks like a failed NMM silver gone wrong. How to paint old wood that still looks like wood (and isn’t bestial brown)?
Old is coming next, but I’ll be changing it to use an airbrush just to show a different effect. The nice thing is you can do new/old wood with brush or airbrush, just swap the colours and use the other method.
Big fan of Vallejo paints myself and glad to see you like them too. Now, any chance you will sell them in the OTT Store?
