YES! They’ve fixed the title. We’ve done it lads!
PS. What are Flags? Are they related to Flegs
The OTTer CoGs can!
What recurring hobby problems would you like Gerry to show you the solution for? Starting projects, seeing something shiney out of the corner of my eye, starting a new project…
There is no solution to that problem
I don’t see that as a problem
Well hes done banners he might as well do shield transfers
I love the prep work and the forethought you did before actually doing the work and the things to do after it’s dry. I’ve never tried banners before but now I’m sort of intrigued.
Cheers. I’m trying to keep them relatively short and on point. Not always easy as I will go off on one
you have see fun with flags.
but now banter with banners.
great stuff can you use coloured paper or died to stop the white glare at the edges @avernos
you can, because of the decals these needed to be white, or cream, but once it’s completely dry I would colour match with paint afterwards, to hide the edges
nice.
I just misread that as showing you the basics of bangers. Am now wondering if there’s any sausage content in the works?
As part of an ulster fry it could be arranged. The trick is not to prick the skin
Best trick is to fry them till they colour then finish them in the oven. End up a lot more tender
Really appreciating these short ‘how to’ videos that you have been putting out. I might have been in the hobby for 30 plus years but I think I’ve learnt something from each one you’ve put out.
Can I suggest that the paper you glue the banner to does not have any ink on it. When you add PVA, if the paper and/or banner is thin, there is a slight risk that the ink bleeds through. It’s a minor risk but you wouldn’t want your banner have instructions for fixing showing through!
When I do the calligraphy paper one (ordered and en route) I will probably show that. Pencil is your friend in that case 🙂
If anyone can… Gerry Can!
I love these video’s thanks for making the time to share your wealth of knowledge and experience of all things flappy with us, I will be using this exact technique for my upcoming unit of fantasy Halberiers. Looking forward to top tips on pennants too.
Hi Jerry
nice video keep it up liked all these so far.
Any tips on doing a Japanese armour back banner (called a sashimono I think)as I really want to do a 40K Tau force with them.
or does anyone know best to make or buy them
thanks guys
So you want to make the banner itself…. well assuming you don’t want to pay a bits seller a silly price for elder ones to convert I actually have an idea.
Give me a couple of weeks to get the bits I need together
it is now up for your valuation https://www.beastsofwar.com/featured/gerry-can-sashimono/
Thanks, Gerry. I have not tried these transfer banners before. Great techniques. I’m very fond of using ordinary printer paper, and I also buy a lot of paper flags from different companies. I have described my Pritt technique here: https://battleofinverlochy.blogspot.com/2018/08/raise-high-black-flags.html
Lovely examples, never thought to try pritt stick, less messy than the pva, although I do like that once the pva is dried it holds to the metal pole.
The PVA does look like a good, strong answer. There is apparently a fancy Pritt that sticks to metal, but I’ve not tried that yet. There have been a couple of occasions where it has been quite handy to swap paper flags on a figure, and the Pritt makes it fairly straight forward.
not sure if you have had much call for it or if its something you’ve even needed but I would love to see LED lights. I seem to remember seeing john putting them in the spacehulk board but every search ive done has come back with model railway etc and seems to be a bit of a minefield
I have not, and based on my ability with a camera, I probably never will.
However, we know a man who can and he’s actually coming over in a week to film and that is on the cards for the visit. So hold tight it is on its way
Oh cool! I will!
A few Gerry Can suggestions
1) Gerry Can make a frozen wasteland base?
2) Gerry Can pin a model on a finished base?
3) Gerry Can make Justin eat lettuce? I think no one can =3
4) Gerry Can make movement trays for bases?
Linen paper is an excellent choice if you want texture. It is available in a huge range of grades, weights and shades.
