Before the crackle paint goes down, those bases look awesome! (I’m only 2:30 into the video)
it’s more paint than most of my bases get, untouched, alone, … forgotten
Cracked leather looks like an interesting option. A crackling good time.
I think it could be a winner
I really like the pva one. Looks like it would be good for lava flow and would be really good for a dimensional gate effect.
I wonder how it would look as defrosting carbonite?
got to be worth a try
Really cool effect. Ill have to try messing with these
I look forward to seeing what you come up with
that’s a great affect for lava an ice the PVA even does it with mutable coats had some toy coverings that looked for terrain so I covered them with PVA n sand 2/3 coats to look like rocks an painted them up the next time we used the they were covered with hundreds of wee cracks like a dry lake bed Gerry.
I never thought about basing materials working. Very cool
I’ll see if i can find the terrain hills to give folk’s another opinion for gaming with an the poly filler steel plant Gerry.
Great stuff, thanks for this, very useful and certainly offers up some interesting ideas to try out.
Two questions, when you dropped the sample on the floor and it fell off, did it still crackle on the floor? And what swear word(s) did you utter?
the gank on the floor did a crusty flaking but it was black paint on the floor crackle medium on top and nothing else so it didn’t give a great effect.
and I believe I defaulted to a James May “cock!” followed by a string of expletives
‘Cock’, a timeless classic.
oooh nice … PVA + paint looks really good and budget friendly, which is nice as this is the sort of thing you expect to cost a lot compared to regular paint.
It definitely is an great idea to use this sort of stuff to add texture to models that could use a bit extra.
You probably could use the hair dryer add a bit of directionality to the pattern.
Maybe an airbrush without paint could do that as well ?
Would love to see the results of those experiments on cracked leather and scale texture
