Do a Space Hulk(‘ish) version 😉
Alien Game, in the dark space. in a first alien style ship with things in the dark going down the dark corridors
I did call it out in other posts… Escape the Dark SpaceStation (basically Event Horizon), which by the way would be bloody awesome!
Escape the dark apocalypse, could be a zombie, mutant etc and about getting from location A maybe survivors from an office block, or family in their home getting to a safe location
Escape The Dark Side of the Moon
Escape the Dark War (really like the prisoners of war idea by Justin)
Escape the Dark Fires of London
Escape the Dark Judges. Set it during Necropolis, group of street judges trapped in a block got to get back to the sector house to survive. Put me down for a copy now yeah ?
Also, I play escape the dark castle with my wee girl who is now 5 and it’s great fun. She even “invented” the backpack so her character can store as many items as she wants ?
Or, flip it: Escape the dark knight. Group of criminals trying to get away from batman with as much loot as possible. Do you go for the 2nd cash register knowing it will add another card to the draw deck….
So there’s the obvious ones escaping a spaceship / station with aliens chasing you. Or escaping an underwater facility. With mechanics where you and the creatures you face can cause damage to the structures – so you to deal with loss of oxygen or drowning. Don’t know if you have something similar but a card say where you attempt to run from the flood waters or seal off an airless area and on bad rolling you have to include another chapter card in the deck as you have to find a way around but on good rolling you remove the… Read more »
Escape the shopping mall whilst being chased by giant mutant spiders
Escape the movie-verse. You’ve somehow been sucked into movies, so you have to survive and escape from films
I’d really like to see a SFW version, so for younger kids – maybe under license, my little pony etc. It is a great story telling system, so any theme could be done. Maybe a prisoner themed one (I am not a number!) / Alcatraz style situation where you need to escape the guards. Alien isolation style – so add in an escape from the queen alien, so more of a tense moment of will she be in the next room, or not, you know, try to build up the tension throughout the dungeon deck, rather than knowing that the… Read more »
What about about three Mile island/Chernobyl stop the meltdown game with one of the players the terrorist trying to start it ?
It might not be as extravagant as some other ideas, but why not stay close to home. Once you are out of the gate continue the story with Escape the Dark Forest. You keep your characters and equipment, get a quick rest to heal up, but the forest threats are more ferocious. And if you manage to find your way back to the village would your previous neighbors even trust and welcome you?
Something along the lines of the Numenera TTRPG setting or The Book of the New Sun with a sci-fi/fantasy/weird theme can result in strongly themed scenarios (plus I’d love to see something like this, as it is underused in my opinion), although not necessarily as an “Escape the Dark” game.
An Escape the Dark Network/Web/Cyberspace cyberpunk game might also be worth checking out! Hackers escaping the cyberspace with corporations’ or powerful people’s sensitive data!

Corporations, governments, and CEOs as bosses, something like that.
