TURN 8: Confrontation, Video Games & Exclusive Minis
July 15, 2011 by beerogre
Well my friends this was the first TURN * without Warren... was it good... bad... indifferent... or do you just miss the big man as much as we do?
Tonight's show had terrain (both Dave Graffam's awesome paper minis and Micro Art Studio's sensational foam radar station), Confrontation, Dark Age and the brand new Dwarf Kings Hold: Green Menace!
We discussed whether exclusive miniatures at conventions are fair play or foul (check out the exclusive MERCS and Malifaux minis)... and if tabletop and video games can ever get along together.
If you enjoyed it, drop a comment below... if you didn't... well then why I oughta!
Until next time guys.

Please staple Darrell’s trousers on before you start rolling.
Yes please… I’m gay, but I’m not THAT gay…
BoW Romain
Not even Elton John is that gay.
I think you’d have to be blind… and even then you’d still have 4 other senses that wouldn’t have an excuse…
Canne’ wait lads – should be awesome. I have the beers in already and shall be camping on Justin.tv soon 😉
If Darrells’ latest win is a colostomy bag, and he demonstrates it, I’ll never watch again.
Oh sweet lord. DON’T GIVE HIM IDEAS! Seriously that’s like coating your hand in Jack Daniels BBQ sauce and shoving it into an alcoholic cannibals mouth.
Hmmm.. something else to ad to my long list of Things I Must Never Do.
7am is hazardous to my health to be up for a Wargaming video…
Oh yay! Turn 10, I may watch the first hour but that’ll be it.
After the nappy if darrel’s got MC Hammer trousers on we’ll know it’s incontinence pants this week!
Looking foward to it…intrigue abounds at the ‘super-secret’ – whiskey on stand by 🙂
Are you going to do any giveaways during the show? i only ask because i dont think im going to be able to make it to watch the show live tonight 🙁
@nova3k Yes… there’s some cool Mantic stuff to give away tonight!
Remember to set your Tweeting fingers to @beastofwar to enter.
You might want to have the Mantic website on hand to if you’re looking for the answer to the question.
Are you going to try and crash the Mantic web site this week then?
Is Twitter still going to be the only way we get to interact with you guys? I’d like to get involved, but Twitter aint my thing.
@echilda Twitter will be needed to enter the competition, as Twitter saves the tweets so the winners can be selected at the end of the show.
We’ll try to monitor the Justin TV chat, but it moves very quickly and we won’t be using it to run the competition.
Ok thats fair enough! Thanks for the quick response!
Cant wait for the show tonight!! But I will have to watch it tomorrow as I have a long night of work ahead of me. (One man/two chins down)
Time to open a nice bottle of Whisky and wait for the show. 🙂
man down! man down!
would be intresting to watch it, but I am working early in the morning, will see the recorded show in the morning after work.
Thanks for accepting that we’re too lazy to google the start time in our particular time zone. XD
where is it, was it not supoosed to start know ?
Will begin in a few minutes Icewolff – just keep a watch for it.
Let us know what is happening guys !
ok, first time vieuwer, so i was not sure i was on time, thanks.
Technical issues ? maybe you need a mechanicum adept to say a few words over it ?
it is getting real late here and have to work tomorrow, so is there a second date when it will be broadcasted ?
good show guys, good job Andy on the lead-host!
Right…*cracks fingers* Exclusive Models and Conventions Thinking about what I said on another comment section I still say that conventions with exclusive miniatures should always be vanilla in terms of rules but still retain the special sculpts that we have seen before. Having special rules and special characters only available from conventions causes a headache in my opinion and doesn’t keep a very level playing field between those who just can’t afford to get out to these conventions (more on this later). As much as it pains me to say it; Games Workshop has the right idea. A model should… Read more »
Just a quick comment on a detail: wasn’t the computer game based on the board game Civilisation in the first place?
As far as convention excusivity goes, i like Mercsmini’s model of releasing a miniature for something that already exists. This way everyone has the same opportunity, but those who went to the con have the unique miniature. This way there is no unfare advantage rules-wise, and the lucky collector who got the unique mini still has bragging rights.
Yeah if you guys did a vote for who does the turn8, i would be voting Darrel. Sorry.
I think Darrel doesnt like playing on computers.
It was a good one even with Warren missing, and it was only about half an our late!
