Make sure to join us for our Live Blogs running across all of next weekend as we delve into the building, converting and painting of Warhammer 40,000 armies in the shadow of our amazing 40K Apocalypse table we've been building
You can get involved and tell us how you would like to get stuck in. We want you to drop your suggestions HERE.
Warren Meets Mat
We're back talking about another mat this week as Warren brings out the new Wasteland Mat from PWork Wargames.
This would be a great mat for use across a number of different game systems like Warhammer 40,000, Fallout: Wasteland Warfare and maybe something like Necromunda. Sam even recommended it as the barren wastelands of Mordor.

It’s the Weekender!
One week till the big 40k Hobby Weekend.
I’ve really be looking forward to those three days of pure hobby goodness.
I love that new ‘Wasteland Mat’ from PWork Wargames. Fantastic detail.
One sock puppet Justin coming up!
.
.
(now where did I leave the sewing machine)
(oh, and I’ll need a case of giant socks)
(oh, wait……I think I have an even better idea)
So am I Dennis I can’t wait to take my eldest over to Coleraine, chillax and immerse ourselves in a weekend of hobby goodness ?
Happy Weekend!!!
Looks good. Depends on price and delivery time.
If I owned a 3D printer and knew anything about STD files, the world would have so many WW2 trains it really wouldn’t know what to do with them. I do love the coal yard you get with it as well. Even has an engine shed so your trains can have a nap when they get tired… it does need a water tower though, steam engines are thirsty wee boys and girls.
I had to pop over to you tube to watch it this morning and the little thumbnail at the top us showing a grey box and no embedded video in the post
I had the same issue @torros – you would happen to be using Microsoft Edge as your browser would you? (That is what I’m using, hence the question.)
@hobbyhub No I’m using Chrome on my tablet
Its working now though
Good morning. I’ll have a quick peak into the weekender before I’m off to Bremen to my Star Wars Legion tournament 😉
btw: why is there no video embedded here?! oO
good luck in the tournament, we demand photos
I have made some
Good luck at the tourney!
Can you give us an over view of the tournament? I’ve never be to one but am curious.
I’m making a project from it.
Here it is: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1421402/
Morning All!
Sorry about that and big thanks to @brennon to got everything fixed!
@brennon You should have a look at this Kickstarter https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/3dprintingdm/the-lost-adventures-all-in-one-3d-printable-adventures
This is another great 3D Printable Kickstarter for D&D 5th
It’s the Weekend!
Fortunately I’m away from home this week, but unfortunately that means terrible connectivity… This video could take a while…
Another good show guys
Archon stuff looks good, but weren’t they Prodos before, the guys who still owe people for AvP Kickstarter stuff
Please confirm ?
Yes the two companies share directors
Do they owe you anything? We have run a number of help people get their stuff threads over the last years, so I don’t know who is actually outstanding anything.
Archon though have delivered pretty consistently on their kickstarters so I don’t have much issue talking about the Dungeons and Lasers – as it’s looking like a good product, and based on 4 weeks building with the rampart stuff I’m confident they can make this kind of stuff. 🙂
Hi Warren, they don’t owe me anything, but a friend at our gaming club got burned along with a lot of other backers over AvP, and from posts on Facebook etc I think they still haven’t fulfilled everything years down the line.
The reason I asked is because I didn’t want to give someone my hard earned money and fear for a repeat of the AvP debacle
I also think lots of people will not back because of the bad feeling from before
Prodos never went back to Kickstarter again as far as I know
No problem mate, we just rarely seem to get posts from folk who are actually owed anything (and they are the folk I’d really like to help)
Out of curiosity they have delivered a number of kickstarters based on their own IP successfully now, how many should they deliver before the red flags become amber? (amber being the standard setting for any kickstarter btw)
Think I’ll see what the pledge levels are and then decide
Agree that most Kickstarters are amber, but some are red based on people behind them, however there are in my opinion a few that are definitely green, and they are
Oathsworn Miniatures
Garphil Games
Anyone else got ones they would consider a ‘no risk’ investment
7TV, I’d say.
Mantic, Fria Ligan, Westfalia have all good track records.
Never had a problem with Bear Head Miniatures or Midlam Miniatures – usually small KSs but lovely figures in quick time!
Forged in battle seemed to fulfil with no problems for their 15m ancients and dark ages
Archon are the same people as Prodos = Jarek Ewertowski and his ‘charming’ attitude. All gamers should check https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/7950/556916.page and stay away from this company.
Would it be really bad if bootcampers spent so long making their stuff no one played on the table…
not at all, it is a hobby weekend and not a bootcamp. I’d be happy if people left with stuff built and painted and questions answered without a dice being rolled.
Given how slowly I paint and faff about, I’ll just be happy getting the box opened and the models of the sprue!
aim low and achieve your goals, I like it
A pessimist is never disappointed.
This us why metal figures are better.Less faffing about ?
yes, with my files and no more than 3 grades of wire wool and a nylon brush I can happily buff my way through one piece minis all day long
Metal one piece good… attaching metal arms at the shoulder and wrist bad…
I’m looking at you Privateer Press… Cylena Raefyll and her Nyss Hunters with their spindly elven arms were a nightmare…
I second what Gerry (@avernos) said. This weekend is about hobby for the most part. I’d be disappointed to see folks at the studio rush through the build, paint, or customize process just to put minis on the table that are only primed. There are plenty of places to play but how often do you have that much collective skill and talent around you while building up and breathing life into an army! But that is only my opinion. ? Take it with a grain of salt! I’m on the digital ticket here in Kansas, so there will be no… Read more »
I hear there will be people with sculpting and converting expertise there as well, I put a post in the backstage thread in case people want to ask for specific things to be covered
That WW2 terrain is stunning…. dont think I’d get away with buying a 3D printer at the moment though 😀
Sooo hyped for Korea it’s unreal. Gotta go with PVA and the Brits. That Centurion is sexy! Some really great terrain this weekend too. Agree with Justin that scifi set looks like something from those ultra clean retro scifi like Space 1999 and 2001.
Also that Wasteland mat is nice. So many options
Click build terrain is always welcome
The wastelands mat will make a fabulous curse-ed earth Dredd table.
Strontium dog great for Strontium dog.
SO curious why no gencon rep this yr? I can never go and I enjoy your blogs etc
Each year we have the budget for one US trip this year we opted for historicon as we have never covered it and wanted to give it some support. Aside from that the team at Gencon are totally detached and make coverage harder every year, (we cant get the passes we need) (the team have to work and upload from fairly poor wifi spots wherever they can find a seat around the venue) (a team member has to sit and mind the equipment as we have no secure place to work) Yeah I was a bit fed up after talking… Read more »
Makes sense. Just bummed as you guys balance both wargaming and boardgaming and everything in-between where as most broadcasters chose just one side. Also at gencon many companies release thier newest stuff. But hey new ventures are always good.
Love the terrain from all the companys and the demon beast is stunning.
A great weekender Guy’s roll on next week for the carnage.
Today was the worse day of my life, i lost wargamer dog (Buddy) at 08:10 this morning he was much loved and died in my arms breaking my heart although he never meant to. i received kind words from @warzan and once again the gaming community comes to my aid at the darkest hour. Gamers from my local club and world wide who knew him have left messages and although to many he was just a dog to me he was my world and the gaming community who knew us have left many comforting remarks and many a teary eye… Read more »
So sorry Phil ?
Happy weekend!
Great choice for a mat this week @warzan ! Even through the camera i could see the 3D pop! Also, thanks for the Dungeons and Lasers show off. I’m due to receive a sample sprue but, i think it will arrive after the KS starts… this gave me what i wanted to know and damn you lol, my wallet is already cursing you for this future buy! I don’t own an airbrush but, i think with simple drybrushing, it will go fast too.
I really hope John calls their bluff and makes the space marines on strike
Great show!
Necromunda wishlisting: I’d love to see the Brats from the original game that became Necromunda. I know this is unlikely but I can dream.
IIRC the Spyrer equivalents looked like super heavy armour. I think that’s a step down from the fast, stealthy rich kids they’re replacing.
