Eden’s Path: A Story from the Dropzone Commander Boot Camp
March 15, 2015 by dracs
This weekend's Boot Camp has worked its way into the lore of Dropzone Commander, with the players battling across the ruined city of Eden's Path which James of Hawk Wargames introduces us to in this short story.
Eden's Path is the slowly crumbling remains of a once great artistic city. The site of a doomed attempt to counterattack the Scourge invasion, the city has since been left to fall to pieces. However, all is not quiet here as Sara, a member of the last remaining Resistance, looks to the skies...
As the dust clears on the Boot Camp, it is cool to see just what this world we've been playing in is like. In this story, James sets up the city of Eden's Path, ready for the mighty battles as the armies of the various races come together to claim it. It's fantastic to know that all of us players have had an impact upon Hawk's world.
What do you think of the background?

Makes a great addition to the memory. D.x
Something to read on the plane home – thanks
A great and fitting end to a great event.
Safe travels to all of you who attended.
Awesome; got to read big chunks of the manual on the way home; the fluff has sold me on the game even more now.
Love a system with living fluff. GW could learn a thing or too – 40K is great but its been static for far toolong
or two, too long – damn keyboard
We need a DZC novel
The UCM Will be back to edens path.
Kicking ass and taking names Tanya!
Kicking Ass yes but we dont take the names of alien scum and traitors you should join the UCM john see strange new worlds and then blow them up with big tanks.
… My Shaltari have the sudden urge to run very far away.
its a ugly planet a bug planet …
want to know more?
Just finished reading the rule books properly for the first time so loving the timing of this extra fluff 🙂
This kind of background makes the whole weekend come to life. Making the games have an impact in the back story is always a welcome addition to any game. More companies should should do it. Arkham’s AT43 used to have system online where you entered the results of your games and this influenced the back story outcomes.
enjoyed the read so far, it left me wanting more.
Simple yet elegant, It have gives me some nice chills. “There was no thunder”. Just too cool.
What a lovely surprise and present from the people of Hawk Wargames. It is great when a company supports this kind of activities so proactively.
Dang it, I hate to be the one to complain when it’s frankly pretty damn awesome that Warhawk would even do anything like this in the first place. But I feel that story is just a bit too short really, it feels like there should be more, but just, agh! I hate looking like a spoiled brat, I mean I didn’t even go to the boot camp and still Warhawk gives me this really cool short story, but my point still stands.
Hawk not warhawk, no idea why I said warhawk
The story for Edens path has only just started there will be more to come and i think it will be written up officially at some point but i might be wrong there was a lot to take in this weekend.
Makes me wana start up a DZC army
Well what more can you say them brilliant from beginning to end! I’m sure this will convince more people to play the game and also become back stagers!
Gotta ask what was the ratio of dropzone paper buildings to 4grounds buildings? The pictures of the cities are so varied and individualistic. I have the dropzone two player set and I’m planning to get some 4ground buildings as well.
All bar one of the tables had the card buildings. The other had 4Ground buildings.
Great event coverage guys!
Very nice introduction. Let’s create the rest of the story.
Brilliant like reading the intro to a good book but what happens next that is up to you……
The Shaltari come in and kick everyone’s ass.
Really enjoyed the coverage and it means I’ll definitely be giving DZC a whirl, starting at Salute! 😀
