This is by far one of the best BoW shows, hobbylab will always be my favourite (Man, do I miss that show!) but this one is really good and I always look forward to more episodes. it’s always great to hear stuff from the horses mouth, both cos I’m a designer myself so what these folk say can be useful for advice and stuff, but also it’s just great to listen to passionate people who love what they do and explain why.
“great to listen to passionate people who love what they do and explain why.”
I couldn’t put it any simpler or clearer – so on the money.
Good interview, thanks for that!
Best show on the site. Encore!
Great interview with an all around nice guy
Really insightful interview, he was a very enthusiastic and genuine person when I met him at the TY boot camp, although if he offers you any in-game advice, trust your own instincts first. I’m still smarting from the helicopter death match game ” go on, pop up and over” a dare to be great moment that got me shot to pieces! Still, I did bring a flying bus to a snake fight.
Interesting, as always.
I am not a big ‘Who’ fan myself, but I could see that license making plenty of money for Battlefront.
Excellent! This is why I’m a backstager!
It’s nice to hear him openly talk about other companies as well as his own. Very interesting!
Agreed! 🙂
Wow. Always inspiring. Thank you so much for lighting this rather sad day at work… 😉
That was great!
An excellent interview. Thanks guys.
Very inspiring for us with our first foot on the ladder.
I love this series ! 🙂
Awesome to watch! When we going to see GW reps?? 😉
I love these interviews! 🙂 If I had one thing I would like to see Beasts of War do more of it is these amazing interviews with the core creators and pillars of the gaming industry. Designers Studio is the best thing you boys have brought to the gaming community (apart from all the other best things here naturally!). @warzan – Warren, you have a level of respect, relaxed composure, and well chosen questions in your interviews that allow us, the gaming community, to get an insight into the personalities and impetus that drive the creators of our favourite pastimes.… Read more »
Have to also say that Being a Kiwi (aka New Zealander) it is great to hear about the Battlefront story as I remember playing the first release of Flames of War at a local club in Dunedin (city at the bottom of New Zealand – next stop Antarctica!). Always amazed me how New Zealand has been a big part of bringing popular WW2 gaming – FoW – and the films and miniature gaming of LotR to the world.
Designer’s Studio is one of my favourite things on Beasts of War. I often go back and watch the DS vids more than once.
A really interesting interview; great stuff.
Thank you and can only hope there’s more down the line.
defiantly a man who love his work not many people can say that nowadays.
a great vid.
Great series and very interesting to hear about both the lobe of the hobby and the business side also. Interesting to hear him say that he and others still look towards GW as a leader and seeing what GW is doing. I always find people who take risks to be very interesting as you get a different perspective on the choice one makes during a life time. Keep up the incredible work. By the way Warren you do a very good job as an interviewer.
Seriously sharp guy, clearly practised at presenting and slick, and this is coming from an Art Dealer!
Great interview. Love this series. Though Games Workshop gets bashed a lot, look at the number of independent games companies run by ex GW employees.
Great interview.
Excellent interview
Wonder if any of GW’s current senior levels watch these and take note? 🙂
It’s funny how the majority of the guys (if not all of them) interviewed along this series actually began their career in GW. And funnier still that they don’t work there anymore!
😉
How it should have been fun to be there when it all started…
This was really entertaining and interesting at the same time.
Such a great and inspiring interview. Looking forward to the next one! 🙂
What a guy. I had a big cheesy grin on my face throughout the entire interview.
