Happy Sunday Cogs and OTTers!
I have so much 40K terrain to build it’s ridiculous
@warzan From the world of HVAC I give you these bits of knowledge. If you want a possible tool that may be helpful check out flap wheels for your rotary tool. You won’t need to build anything and it does what it sounds like you need. As far as a material to slap onto a board that is good and solid look at duct sealant (it gets used on bare metal and holds). It’s cheap, water-based, can be thinned and would likely allow you to add texture media. Grab a cheap chip brush to slap your board and your golden.… Read more »
I shall check it out! Thanks for the tip!
Has Warren been locked in his cellar again as he looks like he’s drinking his own urine
In training for the apocalypse mate 😉
After watching you direct Gerry to zoom into the Templar castle I just want a one off Knightmare special to be made
Wow, a Golden Button! And I was still to deliver the finishing move: a Battle Report, hahaha. Thanks a lot for the kind words, all. I’ll upload the report this evening.
Huge congratulations to the other golden button winners! Fantastic projects 🙂
Silly suggestions but would the router attachment for the dremel help with foam removal?
@Ben Have you looked at the Blotz stuff?
https://blotz.co.uk/product-category/wargames-terrain/28mm-terrain/old-west-28mm/
I experimented with steel base plates and magnetic trays for movement trays a while back. I got an engineering firm to cut the steel plate for me for not much.
Do not underestimate the rusting. Untreated steel rusts like fuck even with atmospheric moisture.
It is only a cosmetic effect and also sealing with a thick varnish will probably help a lot.
I use pencil crayons on my wild west buildings rood grain instead of painting them.
For working with magnets, you need an installation tool. Basically a pen that has the different polarities in each end and colour coded so that you always use it the right way. One end always points to top or right. I call mine the Anti-Justin, a tool prevent reversed polarities. People sell them, or you can 3d print or build one your self.
I removed the pins from steel drawing pins and magnetised them for bases in my Dreadball transformy robot team. It worked ok and saved a lot of painting.
Glad you liked the LindyBiege clip. Nice when that type of thing inspires more hobby.
Looking forward to TerrainFest. Have plenty of terrain to build. Will most likely let it help me finally complete some games / scenarios that were just waiting on terrain to complete.
I have to finally play some Frostgrave. There are some Space Station Zero and Stargrave missions that just needed terrain. And a Rangers of Shadow Deep mission that needed terrain to finish. Dead Man’s Hand… the list goes on and on. Wish me luck. Wishing you all luck also. Happy hobbying. ?
Sunday! 00:00 Blargh?! oO 00:45 too much sugar? XD 01:30 do not eat them! 03:00 Rusty Dragon? 05:00 @warzan sheet metal? Use screws! Edit: or use your Laser Cutter to cut small 5mm circles. Add 2 – 3 into the recess on the terrain piece and lock in place with super glue. No hammering required! 09:45 Does anybody keep count on “unfinished projects”? Anybody? I sure don’t! 13:45 Rigging triggered 15:00 Comgrow? XD 16:00 “Printing like diarea” isn’t a good sounding comparison! 19:30 Objection Mr. @warzan Scratch building materials can be put in a bucket, a bag or in any… Read more »
Thank you so much for the amazing thoughts of my Circus Maximus build. Completely blown away by it. Just a couple of points to clear up on it. Brian and the Judean People’s Front are indeed there. They are shown on the post titled ‘Galloping towards the finishing line’ with a splitter sitting on his own in the distance. The picture is of two of my 3 kids inside the Circus. Not mother and child. I may have to really up my game to get the entire family inside a terrain build. I haven’t written the rules. The rules are… Read more »
Happy Sunday.
It’s soooo tempting to get into some Wild West gaming but I really don’t have the time to spare on it. Maybe something to consider for sometime in the future. It would have to involve at least a train track as well.
Fantastic golden button winners, very well deserved all.
Hi @warzan check out Coritani / Magnetic Displays (lifted from the Fiasco 2023 trader list)
They do a wide range of magnet things for the hobby so even if they don’t do what you need, they might be able to help if you reach out?
The Perry plastic buildings are a bit more versatile than pure wild west, so you could use them for horror/silver bayonet/other things. I do like the new TT Combat wooden buildings as well. I’d make a shout out to Blotz and Warbases as well. I’ve never had buildings bobble or warp, but MDF drinks paint so I think if you used contrast it would be like when Adrian Mole tried to paint his bedroom black. The way I like to paint MDF buildings is coloured sprays, and then I weather with brown/sepia/flesh tone wash that I dab on with a… Read more »

Happy Sunday COGz
you could try a steel stamper to get the 5mm disks @warzan that an a hammer an your are their.
great show guys.
Only caught a bit of the show, struggle to watch Sunday show as for some reason the sound doesn’t play on playstation, so have to watch on tablet. Fully support Gerrys’ stand on Ships rigging, as he did on my project, Now I agree it does finish the model off, but: 1) its fiddly to do when you have mine and Warzans hands 2) Above means every time you go near it something of your body gets caught and then you have a pile of rigging on the floor and hours of repair. 3) As warzan states is it a… Read more »
@warzan I have the solution to tour hodgepodge ( bad pun ) Replace the Bi carb with Polyfilla. May sound silly but many years ago, Pete a member of our gaming group used to run a chemical company and was experimenting with PVB which is a powder version of PVA , which they were mixing with Concrete (believe it or not) which they found made bouncy and bendible concrete. He gave me a tub, (long gone) and I tried it with above, and got a very strong polyfilla paste that didnt crumble on bending and was fairly indestructble. Strangely enough… Read more »
Considering Acre, would old walls be reused in the new walls. The port would have an open area at the quay side.
You don’t need shellacs, you can just use enamel primer. I’ve done a ton of mdf with enamel primer and it seals it just fine. No expansion or issues with humidity. Can airbrush and contrast on top without a problem.
