Happy Sunday CoGs, OTTers and backstages! Spring begins with a solid 27 degrees here in Sydney, great hobbying weather.
Happy Sunday Cogs
On gundams, I don’t have time for my current slate of things without adding gun dams to it, but if I was inclined I don’t think I’d be satisfied with the panel line look. The camouflage version is much better looking so I’d have to paint them.
I think battletech would be how I’d scratch the anime robot itch…. Seems like it would be less time consuming and expensive. But I do love the look of the giant robots
An episode to definitely think about. The speed dating of hobby for a new hobby buddy, that is a distinct issue in my neck of the woods. Yes, there are hobbyists that I paint with once a month but I have my own FLGS that I tuck into for the regular nerd time. With regards to doing it at a convention.. I’ve seen those people… and I’m scared.
In the meantime, I’ll keep in touch with you all here as much as I can because being asynchronous is easier than missing three million posts on Disco.
screaming into the void … that’s social media in a nutshell 😀
??
We all say we’re “self-motivated” on our CV but no person is a motivation island in reality. If I didn’t have a community to interact with I don’t think I would have kept in the hobby. Initially I wanted my son to join me on the journey. He’s 19 and has probably played 5 games of TANKS, 2 games of Bolt Action, couple of games of X-wing and a couple of games of Saga. Which for 9 years played ish, isn’t really hobby minion level involvement. So it was the Isleworth Wargaming Club and the project system as a Backstager… Read more »
You could sell tickets to the speed hobby meetings on ticket master. You’d make a fortune

Great fun show guy’s ?
Great show guys. Good to see @brennon derailing things at the end with the speed dating gag.
At last, the well known scientific property of the ‘curmudgeon factor’ being acknowledged as it relates to making friends later in life. XD
Nobody gets a prize for guessing who my main (squeeze – sorry playing too much L.A. Noire recently) ‘gaming hubby’ is.
Happy Sunday. Some very nice Gundam pieces there John. So far I haven’t plucked up the courage to paint any of mine yet. Using them in games could be interesting. My mind went to all of the various duels in The Witch From Mercury. I’ve had three hobby friends for the last 25 years or so. I’m the only one who plays solo games as well. I’ve found from posting my hobby online I usually get the most engagement from that game’s facebook group. I only use Instagram as a photo archive of the minis I’ve painted. Wargaming speed dating… Read more »

Very disappointed in the historical inaccuracies of this episode. The Gundams are Japanese so they wouldn’t be fighting against the nachtwulf. Very poor historicalness
Good topic and good laughs! I’m sorely missing a hobby buddy at the moment. My friend for that moved to a remote island and trying to reel my wife into gaming during covid didn’t last unfortunately… I very much recognise what you said about meeting new people, but then getting confronted with rants on politics. That was my one time at the FLGS’ hobby and painting evening 😡
I know my special someone is out there, somewhere!
Not sure where the angry emoji came from. Makes it more severe than intended…
Such an interesting topic! I’ve never thought of the hobby buddies in that way, and now realised something after nearly 30 years of hobby! I’ve had at least three occasions when I’ve had a “hobby hubby”, and reflecting back all those times it was the “hobby friendship” that kept both of us involved and motivated. These were all times when our hobby circles were smaller, and less varied in terms of genres or games played. Right now, I don’t have a hobby buddy. I know bunch of people via my club membership, and I’m sure I could get a game… Read more »
Business Daddy likes to promote Gundam at UKGE.
Anime game is based on being a light, fast game.
OTT have an area at UKGE that could host something.
Future participation game?
Sorry, did I just suck the joy out of it? 😉
