Happy Sunday
Happy Sunday Fellow CoGs! It’s the XLBS Show…….,…….
Ahhh the Inquisition! Not long ago I bought the miniatures styled after the Monty Python skit. Maybe during Christmas break, I’ll finally get them painted up! ??. Had to have them after @avernos pointed them out to me, (well to all of us but I know he was aiming them at me). Also, I’ll be capturing that picture of ‘Cardinal Avernos’ to print large and add to the studio. It’ll look good next to the ‘John Ross’ photo, (you know, the one from last week)!
oh joy another day with two tacos and the Greatest movie ever made
Happy Sunday!
Didn’t you see the QI where they discussed the fact that the Spanish Inquisition gave plenty of warning about their arrival?
Like the Ofsted of their day – putting folks into a panic
This comment deserves at least 20 thumbs up. Honestly, CoGs, what’s wrong with you all? 😉
The actor was in both series i.e. Rome and Grey’s.
Hah neat – I was just trying to remember his name 🙂 Kevin McKidd!
Also the voice of Fenn Rau in Star Wars REBELS – united once more with Ray Stevenson who voiced Gar Saxon in Star Wars REBELS and later in the final storyline of Clone Wars.
Pushing UV resin through an airbrush sounds terribly dangerous.
Living on the edge
I did a similar thing brushing on UV resin to fill in gaps. It worked well until I got carried away and accidentally shined the torch on the brush.
Glorantha is really one of the Great fantasy settings. It’s a pity it’s a bit unknown now
Things that are old are becoming new again so we shall see if it gets something of a rebirth in the next few years.
that’s why classic D&D also known as ‘OSR’ (Old school Revival/Renaiscance) is so huge these days.
It’s a school of thought that says that all the extra ballast/features that were introduced in AD&D are not needed, because you can do plenty with just the core stats. And to be honest they’re not wrong.
Isn’t Glorantha the setting that has humanoid ducks and other fowl beasts ?
I very vaguely remember the name and Runequest when I first started collecting RPG books.
It has Broo. It needs nothing else
I think every RQ player has been killed by a duck at some point
RQ also has some of the best campaign supplements I think have been released
Glorantha brought dangerous mutating chaos as a force to be feared and fought into play. I’m sure no miniatures gaming company took that idea, nor the plague infested goat men (Broo) idea either.
Happy Sunday COGz
So Gerry is the sock’s man v spoon man?
The golden age of GW.
Sitting around the dinner table the other day we started asking what everyone wanted for Xmas…the wife answered Don’t Know…the teen answered I Don’t Know and I followed suit by also saying I don’t know lol………well that was a helpful discussion regarding Xmas pressies………so we’re all going to get junk we don’t need or want, another successful Christmas sorted then lol
Anyone who blatently answers like this in my family gets a copy of a game like “Don’t Get Got”. The kind of game you don’t know you need or want, until you play it (and immediately go “again, again!”)
Free makes the taming of the poo. (cat)
Oh wow I didn’t realised I got a golden button! Huzzah! Old hammer is where it’s at.
There’s a reason people love those old games like Inquisitor, Modheim, Necromunda, etc despite clunky rules. The imagination, the freedom to deep dive and the ability to build experience into your team, war and or army allows you to tell a story with your games.
Newer games like Warcry and the new Killteam play smoother games but are far less emersive because they gang members are far more regulated and predictable.
Ooh nice project button winner’s.
Happy Sunday.
Love the nostalgia walk with those old rulebook. The Inquisitor trilogy was great, as well as Space Marine, as yes, I was shouting Ian Watson as the telly @avernos . Going to have a browse through the 28-mag website later.
I love the look of that Hassle Free Barbarian, might have to get him (look at the muscularity!).
I’ve always been aware of Runequest but never read it or played it. Looks like something up my street.
Happy Sunday lovely people! Sox rule! If you are playing the XLBS drinking game like me, you’re under the table drunk by now! @avernos fantastic show today, great energy.
Thanks for the Button? @avernos, You will be pleased to here that the main reason I am undertaking the Runequest project was to play Saga: Age of Magic, and other Skirmish Games, they are not intended for my roleplaying games, though I may try it? I recently bought Silver Bayonet, and plan to adapt the rules to use here, I think the format of the game will work really well. Building a force from heroes and grunts should be easy and I plan to alter and create new archetypes. I will be sharing the process of this adaptation along with… Read more »
ah memory is a terrible thing these days, I thought that was all exciting and new, to be fair I stopped paying attention to Chaosium after the debacle that is 7th ed CoC and their lack of publishing books that I was missing.
Keep on trucking with the RQ and stay out of longships!
The Chaosium UK warehouse was restocked with the Runequest starter set about an hour ago. I’d recommend hurrying if you can.
As someone having both the core book and the starter box, I can say that the box helps bring in players who have never heard of Glorantha and may be twisted by other RPGs. Glorantha has so many unique and unusual bits to it being a Bronze Age setting where religion isn’t an option, it shapes your life (for better or worse).
For several decades we also do like Gerry does for Christmas gifts, it is easy for me and for the person who did buy the gifts. In the beginning we tried with the lists but that didn’t work as it was to hard for them to know what’s what and then they didn’t want to buy anything just in case it was the wrong thing.
sox is a great present i love it every year now….. also Gerry, Barbie is doing terrain for inquisitor in same scale 😀
Sunday.. fresh from the weekender… huzza…. more flocking curses needed! Break the birdsoundmachine
Happy Sunday..
@Brennon It will be great to see what you put together for Inquisitor. There’s lots of great ranges available at the moment to kitbash together for Inq28. Not only does Necromunda provide good fodder alongside other 40k like genestealer cults and admech, the style of Age of Sigmar also provides some solid foundations to work from, especially things like the Warcry warbands. And that’s before you start looking beyond GW to 3D printing, other ranges like Wargames Atlantic etc.
Have you come across the Planet28 rules at all? Simple skirmish rules for narrative heavy campaigns very much in the Inquistor vein.
Strangely enough, I downloaded and read through those rules this weekend. They are very intriguing and I might end up bringing them up in next week’s show!
That which is in the past will come to haunt you in the future. Yes… *strokes beard and narrows his eyes with a slow nod in the most cryptic of manners* yes… there will be much to be seen from Giftmas Past in the Giftmas Present. *utters a low laugh of self humor*
@elysium64 and @avernos seeing those Runequest minis brings back some memories from when I was in college back in the 80s. My longest surviving character was a Humakt (not sure on the spelling!) Rune Priest named Tank because of all the armor he wore.
good old Humakt, when you have to kill every NPC outside of the Glow Line…accept no substitute
I’m with you Jerry. Dracko was the original bad ass. Those books were good and grim dark propped! Before things got softened. I found a copy with all three books in one. There also was an Imperial Fist character also if I remember correctly. Such a great story
If I remember correctly, the Imperial Fists marine was a character from the separate novel Space Marine that crossed over into the Inquistor trilogy in the second book (Harlequin).
I loved these novels and the Deathwing short story collection. Shame a lot of the lore has been re-conned and overwritten over the years.
the Deathwing novella was amazing, did you see the comic they made of it when they had Warhammer Monthly? It was beautiful gutted I never hung onto my copy
I think I saw a few panels of it, and being impressed by them, but I never had any copies of Warhammer Monthly. Aside from the Deathwing short story itself, I most remember an Imperial Guard novella within that short story collection. They had to pull back from an overrun combat zone that was about to bombarded, fighting past on rushing rebel elements, but it also touched on their history as gangers in a hive city before recruitment. Have to try and dig it out of a pile of old stuff lurking in boxes at my parents along with all… Read more »
