Happy Sunday!
The saber tooth squirrels surely had bones to fashion into weapons?!
Game sounds life a fun way to explore narrative gaming, particularly with newer gamers
I heartily recommend it, it stops it being about rolling dice and stat sticks and lets people be boundlessly creative
Happy Sunday! Thank you kindly for the golden butt. The sun is shining out of it once more.
The main thing that kills my projects is new projects. Aided and abetted by slower than expected progress on previous projects which increases the likelihood of something new taking over.
It’s why I used to really love the theme weekends (40k, Star Wars) as I would plan to be at the painting desk for the whole weekend and I would get something quite substantial finished. Left to my own devices, real-life stuff and general distractions slow me right down!
Happy Sunday COGz an OTTers ??
Hip to be square @dignity
I think Gerry is more like Catweasel a scary man in/from the woods???

Happy Sunday! The bane of my Hobby time for the last 6 months at least was the discovery of the Mod for the venerable Star Wars Empire at War PC game … Awakening of the Rebellion! Not only playing the game itself and failing multiple times to survive vs The Empire, but also watching the numerous campaigns that are serialized on You Tube. I think the main gist of this is how easy it is just to turn on the PC and play with no prior preparation compared to the tabletop hobby! The Shiny Syndrome is still high with me… Read more »
Yay space Smurfs to the rescue.
Happy Sunday.
None of my projects gets killed. I either complete them or they wait their turn. But then sometimes I get bored or something more exciting comes along and priorities get altered.
Correct @avernos, that resin is shite, it’s now in the bin!
Yes Gerry Forest shamblers are filth arent they!
The Halflings used them as firewood to roast the horses stuffed with elves.
Life kicking you in the nutts for me.??
Good one guy’s ?
Another week and another episode to watch while hobbying. Getting shit done, no matter how tedious, definitely is a thing for me to jump on as well. The “magpie mind” is my Achilles heel. I think not having a clearly devoted and, most importantly, organized space for my hobby where I can focus is my biggest problem. Moving out of the place I’m at now and organizing my own space as I need would be great for my output. Outside of that I’d say ‘settling down’ to what I find interesting in fantasy is key. I know this is impossible… Read more »
Happy Sunday….
Project death. Planning not meeting that week’s enjoyment focus. I have a Last Roman Saga army to paint for a friend. I am a part way through. I have primed spear wielding minis, but I have 16ish shields to freehand. I can really get in a mood for that style of painting and get some done… But other weeks it is the last thing I want to do. When the plan doesn’t marry with my motivation and hobby horn that day or week, things don’t get done. Lack of a deadline. Again, Last Romans for Saga, wanted to do this… Read more »
Congratulations, Ben!!
@avernos I’m chipping away at my Sylvan Kin army. Currently on restic clean up. Saving some Archon Studio plastics for a treat at the end. I didn’t get much hobby time in the spring because of garden stuff so I’m a bit behind where I want to be. I can’t multitask so if the UHH is on I maybe get one and a half restic bodies cleaned up. That’s a slower rate than @lloyd . The online games are motivational as, like you said, it shows the force is playable which encourages me to get it physically completed but as… Read more »
Congratulations Ben! One of my project killers is barriers to just cracking on with it, be it missing resources (paint, basing material, figures etc.) or life getting in the way and motivational buzz fading. Kickstarters are pretty bad for this – I get excited for something, but by the time the stuff arrives, I’ve typically lost the hook that initially pulled me in. If I can’t work out a paint scheme or get intimidated by the models I can also stall out. Most of my problems are really about getting started on something; once I get going I’m usually okay… Read more »
@avernos 15-16 september the silent unseen joined to uprise, you can use special forces units if you want, ( i bet you know whi the silent unseen – Cichociemni – are)
Shifting priorities is the staller of my projects. If my group picks up interest in a new game or one I haven’t been actively working on for awhile I may end up bumping that to the top of the queue and delaying something else. Having a deadline helps, as does trying to keep on top of things bought for each game. These days I try to paint the last thing I bought soon after getting it just to keep that game system up to date. Having recently started on a Halfling army I am working on getting it tabletop ready… Read more »
@avernos For a more than one da event you could play out the entire Warsaw rising campaign using an adaption of the following Firestorm WARSAW: https://www.flamesofwar.com/hobby.aspx?art_id=1652
For me projects semi die because I spend so long painting the bloody and making the things, I begin to run out of enthusiasm , plus I get side tracked by new shiny. Blood and Plunder I spent best part on 9 months beavering away to get drawn to Legions Imperialis which went down a side track for the last 6 monhts in that I finally finished all the Titans and Knights on a previous project for Adeptus Titanicus. And of course have now been drawn away to do Clash of Steel ( though as I can paint 15mm tanks… Read more »
Deadlines help! If I have a mini I know I’ll be using for a game, then it’ll get painted. I had a Battle Systems Shanty Town sitting on a chair unpunched, but, as soon as I started a Stargrave game, I assembled it and did some painting (of the cardboard edges) in a few days. While most of the mini’s have been painted (trying out a crew from Battle System’s First Born) this scenario calls for lots of random encounters, so I’m painting some gibbons from the Wildspire Miniatures “Heroes and Animals” set as Tanglers (: As much as I… Read more »
