How does @tacticalgenius continue to do it? I’ve always assumed that there’s a clue in the name… However, I’m beginning to think @tacticalgenius is a seer, prophet or psychic… ????
Happy sunday,
I hope all have a great day on the lords day, except for Fuck @ben, he knows what he did. I hope his day starts with broken glass in his breakfast. I also hope a car runs over his toes. Also, I hope he drops is minis in an open flame. May he never watch the Greatest movie ever made. Some just dont deserve that joy.
It’s the XLBS Show………..Happy Sunday Fellow CoGs! As to the question of how do I prefer miniatures to be sold to me, I like to see lots of painted miniatures on cool backdrops, it does give me a sense of the game that I’m buying into. I also like the themed week approach of multiple videos like Corvus Belli’s Infinity Weeks here on OTT. As well as how to play the new minis, whether they be just minis or a new game. When Firelock Games first debuted their SMASH HIT ‘Blood and Plunder’ they released a series of videos on… Read more »
Totally agree – I think seeing miniatures on fun tabletops and in the midst of the action really hits the nail on the head. It’s why I got into Warhammer!
Morning. Just this week I went on Facebook for the first time in an age and decided to post on the page for LV4 27 who do 3d prints. Their website and most 3d print just have images of the files. I posted what I’d done for my colony build for my Aliens project just for the hell of it. The response was amazing and the company got in touch and said how inspirational my work was and asked to put it on their gallery on their website. It was a bit of a wow moment for me but it… Read more »
Great stuff! This is the kind of thing I want to see more of!
All this show me miniatures on your website malarkey started when companies stopped sending out free samples in exchange for a £2 postal order.. lesson to be learned there I feel
I always liked the photocopied lists with the little sketches of figures in the margins, proper quality that was. And waiting 4 to 6 weeks for mail order, none of this ‘I’ve been scammed’ panic on social media if stuff isn’t dispatched within 24 hours…
like nature intended
Hi OTTers.
Get Warren an Lloyd into moonstone a big way an the boot camp will happen.
Get a high grade yellow tyvek cem suit and double glove him an whatever mask he likes an Lloyd will be fine.
Ooh nice the McFarlane figures diorama looks brilliant.
Cheers Zorg!
Have you seen the kromleck tree’s guy’s?
The back of the dwarf was like that for a long time full of codes for figures an vehicles.
I remember getting the mail order catalogs for Essex and Dixon miniatures back in the day. They were literally black and white photocopy stapled together lists without pictures. It never bothered us there were no pics in those catalogs.
Though it was great when GW started putting in ads into White Dwarf of miniatures with with a plain metal pic or painted version.
I’m sure this is why there were so many wargames shows as why the attendances were large as people wanted to see the sculpts in the flesh
Most likely lol
I’ve got the gw Dragon for 30+ year’s an ocasonly look at it an think nope I’ll fcuk it up an put it back in the cupboard. FUGUO
Has people had trouble with the revell plastic glue I’ve had two bottles an the end has fell off the bottle AAGGGH FUGUO.
Loving the show guy’s
Happy Sunday. For buying purposes I’m quite the fan of a black and white image of the actual miniature with a dark wash similar to those old GW catalogue pics from the 90s. They show you what to expect from the model in all of its naked glory. I’m not a fan of renders as it only really shows what the model would look like in an ideal state without it having gone through a casting process. For painting I do like to see an official paint job as well as many community interpretations, and scenic shots just strokes the… Read more »
Good topic this week 🙂 Personally I’m glad the times have changed and we get high quality pictures of miniatures from most manufacturers now. I appreciate most companies are one person bands but it frustrates me no end when there are no images of ranges despite models having been out for years; or inexplicably the pictures of entrie ranges are removed from a website – I’m look at you Gorgon Miniature’s Steve Saleh Etruscans, or I would be if you would put the pictures up that you used to show! Like Ben I get very frustrated by companies who only… Read more »
That was so cool, thanks for featuring my Blood Angels diorama!
Yes indeed Gerry, I’ll be up that way again June/July.
An enjoyable listen as always.
HappY sunday….
Again, I don’t get what the problem is with renders other than boomers deriving some shallow self-worth from being able to signal “Hey – I know the old days when things were different!” I’m a boomer myself. I’m fine with renders for miniatures belonging to ranges where I already know the production quality. Somehow, I seem to have a superpower which enables me to extrapolate what to expect from a digital image of a miniature based on former experience. It’s great! And renders of minis from lines which I don’t yet know? Great news: There are thousands of video channels… Read more »
The Mierce Compendiums are great catalogues and well worth picking up. They show the models at actual size, give some background to the factions, and even include a phonetic breakdown of the names to make sure you know how to say them…. If only they had some painted models/armies in there it would be the perfect shopping experience, unlike their website.
Happy Su… MONDAY!
So renders are the least attractive to me. Mainly because they are the same as a pencil sketch: nothing really exists yet. Next would be sprues, single minis and then community painted stuff. And we need LLoydshots!
Aw, thank you team, for the Golden Button. I put a bit of love into that tree, as it doesn’t seem to get much online. My KD project is far from finished, I have somewhat of a collection… On today’s topic: the only thing that irks me is “Only Renders”. Wyrd is the worst for this. Renders on the previews, renders on the box. It feels irrational, but there it is. Take KD for example: they’ll show off renders during the updates, but when the item hits the store we get the plain mini on a white background. I’m ok… Read more »
Oh lordy me! I was not expecting a Golden Button. The Artemis mini is on its way I promise.
Lies…deception
It’s what spring is for!
What makes me buy a new miniatures range? Is “the drop of a hat” the right answer? That I’ve bought the Forbidden Psalm book during this show suggests it is.
As a less facetious answer I think I’m most likely to fall for the potential. Great mini photos absolutely do sell, I think the arty renders Raging Heroes do are wonderful; but I’m as easily inspired by a green or an unpainted sample.
