Drop Tactics: UCM Crossbows Are Locked & Loaded!
February 15, 2017 by warzan
Today we're joined by Simon from Hawk Wargames to talk about some awesome units in Dropzone Commander as today we're looking at the UCM Crossbows.
The Crossbows are amazingly cheap and they can cut through your enemies like butter. They do require a transport, so getting them on the table can be a little tricky. Plus being laser-based weaponry, they can hit anything within line of sight and make for awesome snipers, picking out vehicles from range.

This one’s an interesting unit but I’ve struggled to make it effective. I thought it might be the counter to the Shaltari dominating space due to their long range but the narrow arc of fire is a pain. Covering a channel that runs the length of the board usually backfires for me ‘cos it makes my opponent approach under more cover. I’ve found my UCM being overrun with enemies on either side yet the Crossbows still haven’t got LoF on anything.
The errata extending the Broadsword’s range means I’ll probably focus on that for ranged attacks and stick with Longbows.
@warzan you deliberately trying confuse us… I thought Locked and Loaded was the Bolt Action Series 😉
Still an interesting weapon for the UCM, although yet to face one in combat
huehuehue
I wonder if these watched a channel leading up to a Critical Location whether they’d get some good targets…?
