Cowboys Vs Aliens by blipvertus

We start off this week with a project from blipvertus who has been diving into a bit of Fistful Of Lead but with a twist. They have been working on some cool Cowboys recently and then decided to pit them against a force of aliens to really turn up the levels of Pulp!

Cowboys Vs Aliens #1 by blipvertus

The Cowboys found themselves going up against Indians but with a twist in the mix when it came to the Aliens. Fistful Of Lead worked as the core rules but with the Cowboys and Saucermen scenario. Ben Wade and his gang had been tasked with bringing specimens to the Aliens but the Cowboys and Indians were trying to stop them. The Aliens had access to rayguns which could be lethal (and inaccurate) or stun.

Cowboys Vs Aliens #2 by blipvertus

The Bad Guys were looking to get the hostages to the flying saucers whilst the good guys were trying to rescue as many people as possible. The aliens and robots used in the battle report came from Hydra Miniatures and their Retro Raygun range.

Cowboys Vs Aliens #3 by blipvertus

From the looks of the battle report, which you should go and read for yourself, the game was immensely fun and had some great back-and-forth. I really like that the Historical miniatures got a run out against something a bit different and that the Fistful Of Lead rules were so useful that they could be tweaked to play out a bit more of a Pulpy game. Make sure to go and read the battle report in full which has plenty of fluff to dive into!

Deathship One by dugthefug1644

Next up, we have a look at a project from the insanely talented (and fast) painter, dugthefug1644. They picked up some miniatures from Black Scorpion not long ago because they just liked the look of them but they have now found a use for them on the tabletop as part of Joe McCullough's Deathship One.

Deathship #1 by dugthefug1644

This turned into an excuse for these Highlanders to be trapped in the bowels of Deathship One, fighting their way through five rooms packed with terrible horrors with the aim of escaping. I think you'll agree that the work that dugthefug1644 has done on the Highlanders is bloody awesome. I love the dirty details and the realistic scheme. I also think the work on the tartan is bloody awesome.

This was also an excuse for dugthefug1644 to pick up some of the Wargames Atlantic Harvesters to use in Deathship One for the Highlanders to battle.

Deathship #2 by dugthefug1644

There is a good mix of different alien creatures in the Harvesters box from Wargames Atlantic that will be good for representing the basic aliens that you'll need to deal with. You can see that the kit also makes some good, brutal killers that might prove more of a challenge.

Deathship #3 by dugthefug1644

I think that dugthefug1644 has done a fantastic job on the armour of these alien blighters. The patterning on their shells is great and I think the gore on the creature above is well done. It isn't over the top and works well with the pose of the miniature as well.

Nottingham Shire Hall by denzien

Last but not least, we're going back in history with denzien. They have been inspired to recreate a building from Nottingham's history and their iconic Shire Hall. With that in mind, some 3D designing went on and the Shire Hall came to life.

Nottingham Shire Hall #1 by denzien

The original building was used extensively although started to fall into disrepair. There are some great stories that denzien shares over on the project but as you might imagined, the old building was demolished and a new building was put in its place. In this project, denzien looked to bring the original building back to life on the tabletop.

The project follows the perils and the positives of the 3D printing process as well as trying to re-create the look of the building based on some research out and about in Nottingham. I think that denzien has done an absolutely superb job on the brickwork to make it feel very realistic indeed.

The finished building/facade has now been completed and will no doubt get worked into a number of different projects. Whilst this project has now been completed, this isn't the end and it seems like denzien has plans to look at recreating the new Shire Hall as well which could be fun!
