Come and join us for another delve into the Forums and Projects to find the best of the best from the last week or so. We're going to be getting stuck into lots of great looking pieces this week...

...make sure to always let us know what YOU have been working on and share it across the site.

Well & Temple Terrain by cpauls1

We're kicking things off today with a look at the work of cpauls1 who has been working away on some Scatter Terrain for his FLGS and so put together showing off the process that enabled this to come to life. Check it out!

Well Terrain #1 by cpauls1

The project (linked above) goes into detail about how this particular piece came together but I think the finished product is looking rather good indeed. I really like the work that went into making this feel like a living, natural space with well-placed planets and good use of rich green flock. The spout of water and the resulting pool created by it also looks dynamic and interesting.

Well Terrain #2 by cpauls1

I'd be very happy for this to be included on a Fantasy tabletop, perhaps as a place of power where local warriors and heroes are looking to prove themselves. I like that the natural process of creating the sloshing water has made it feel like it fits within the scene.

The clean and bright feel to the piece as a whole is a nice alternative to plenty of the rundown and bloody stuff we fight on nowadays and I think you should delve in and see what else cpauls1 has been up to on that project! I hope we see him work on more in the future too.

Infinity Hollowmen by tanath

Next up we're turning our attention to some Sci-Fi and the work of tanath. Here are his Hollowmen.

Infinity Hollowmen by tanath

This was a commission for an Infinity player and I think you'll agree that the way the colours have been brought to life here is very dynamic. As a game which is very much driven by that anime/manga style, you could certainly imagine these dangerous soldiers coming straight from the screen onto the tabletop.

Whilst normally it would be great to see these soldiers on a white background so we can get a peek at the detail work I think the black works really nicely here, building on their ominous quality and making them feel even more spectral than they actually are!

I love the way the green fades up across the legs and arms, becoming lighter as you get to the focal points of the model, namely the guns. The hex pattern work on the cloaks is also an ambitious step which has paid off.

Primaris Space Marine by wildchevy

We stay in the realm of Sci-Fi for a moment more with our third entry for this week by wildchevy. Here we have his work on this amazing Primaris Space Marine for a painting contest.

Primaris Space Marine #1 by wildchevy

To use one of Warren's favourite words, I would say that this fellow is stunning. The miniature is such a standard addition to the Space Marine line-up but wildchevy has done a sterling job of elevating it with so much additional detail work when it comes to the battle damage across the model.

Special attention should also be paid to the way the half-and-half scheme has worked here, bringing out not only a vibrant and deep blue but also such a crisp white at the same time. Whereas I would certainly wobble with the lines here I think wildchevy has shown off just how steady his hand is!

The red on the gun works as a good focal point, drawing the eye, and the base with its crumbled sand and stone is a nice dull frame to let the model shine. As I said, the real charm comes from that additional battle damage across the model as a whole and I like that there's even a bit of weathering up around the base of the boots too.

A sterling piece of work!
