T-34 Tank by marcuslamb

Starting things off when it comes to the Community Spotlight, and the last one of 2020, we take a peek at what marcuslamb has been doing recently. Whilst they have been collecting Germans for an age, they also wanted to change things up and paint up a T-34 for a Soviet army instead!

T-34 #1 by marcuslamb

Here you can see the finished article, an impressive tank which is covered in dirt and grime and looks like it has been through the wars. The deep green of the tank has been applied spiffingly and I love how it fades through into that ingrained dirt which has been churned up by the tank tracks.

marcuslamb has been going through all of the different steps that brought this tank to life. As well as talking about building up the tank kit itself, he goes through all of the different stages of painting it too.

T-34 #2 by marcuslamb

This is quite a contained project when it comes down to it but it's always nice to see how one particular miniature has come to life. Maybe this project will give you the impetus that you need in order to paint up your next swathe of tanks? I like that marcuslamb has also put in some of his fails as well as his successes. It shows that we're all human!

Dystopian Wars by daemonish

Next up we're sticking with the theme of Russians but how they shape up in Warcradle Studios' new Dystopian Wars. This set of preview sprues show off the fantastic plastic sprues for this new fleet in the game and they have been painted up superbly by daemonish.

Dystopian Wars #1 by daemonish

daemonish has been showing off the building of these ships as part of the project alongside the way that he decided to paint them as well. The style is very dark and metallic but it works really well for a quick and easy scheme. I like the touch here and there of blue which has worked its way into the central towers that sit atop the deck.

Dystopian Wars #2 by daemonish

The ship kits are now packed with detail which is always nice to see and it might mean that splashing on basecoat and washes should make for a perfect fleet in a matter of hours. I could certainly see these ships powering through the waves in search of an enemy to sink.

Dystopian Wars #3 by daemonish

The mix of steel, gold and bronze here makes for some fearsome looking ships and it is making me very interested in how the other miniatures in the Dystopian Wars line-up are going to come out. The Covenant would be fun to see pitted against these particular ships!

Kitbashed Sci-Fi Terrain by capta1n5kyhawk

We finish off this Community Spotlight with a look at more terrain for Sci-Fi tabletops which has been finished off this month by capta1n5kyhawk. We looked at just one of his pieces a few months ago but here we have more of his terrain presented in these impressive photos.

Kitbashed Sci-Fi Terrain #1 by capta1n5kyhawk

A lot of the terrain that you see here has been kitbashed together from random bits and pieces of "rubbish" alongside some plastic bits and bobs from a selection of kits too. It has come together to present an excellent post-apocalyptic settlement which would be fun to fight over.

All of the terrain here has been tinkered with and tweaked to make sure that it is packed with character. Added to that you've also got a lot of fine airbrush work going into these pieces, especially since it was apparently a pain to get so many different colours done!

It is well worth going and exploring the painting and building that has gone into this project above. You will find something fun to maybe have a pop at yourself. Remember that you can always save your bits and bobs and recycle them into impressive terrain which is fit for the grimdark future and beyond.
