Star Wars: Legion Battle Report by graystoak

We start off this week with something we all enjoy here at OnTableTop. A Battle Report! This one has been put together by graystoak who has been working away on some fun Star Wars: Legion miniatures over the last while.

Star Wars Legion Battle Report #1 by graystoak

The board has been set and the pieces are moving. The Imperial forces under Krennic are clashing with the Rebels on a backwater rock known as Gamu. A whole bunch of work has gone into this army and the set-up for a deadly game of Star Wars: Legion.

Star Wars Legion Battle Report #2 by graystoak

The miniatures have been really nicely painted up for both sides. I really like the character work in particularly and also the skill it takes to make tan and green Rebels look interesting! But, the real draw of this particular project is the fact that you can dive into a really in-depth battle report!

There are some really fun photos of the battle in progress showing off how cool Star Wars actually looks when you've got two nicely painted armies on the tabletop. I think it also helps that the terrain has been supplemented with lots of scatter to make it feel that little bit more Star Wars. I won't spoil the battle report but there are some fun twists and turns in there for you to enjoy so sit down, grab a cup of tea and have a read.

The Silver Bayonet by chaosgorka

Taking things back in time to the Napoleonic period, we also have chaosgorka. The Silver Bayonet has caught a lot of people's attention and so it was a matter of time before we saw some miniatures from chaosgorka's furiously quick brush.

The Silver Bayonet #1 by chaosgorka

chaosgorka's signature style here works really well on these miniatures. It gets across the Pulpy feel of the game and makes the miniatures pop. I like the strong, bold choice of colours which bring the miniatures to life.

The Silver Bayonet #2 by chaosgorka

It looks particularly good when you take a peek at details like the tartan on this fellow's kilt. I also like that all of the darker details are then contrasted well against the brighter spots like the gold and white on their uniforms.

The Silver Bayonet #3 by chaosgorka

This British force has come together very nicely indeed. That red really is lovely and I like how deep and rich it feels. It matches up quite nicely with the idea of being a prim and proper British officer. Maybe this will inspire a few more people to dive in and paint up some Silver Bayonet?

Oldhammery Bretonnians by piers

Last but not least, we turn our attention to some work by piers that I think I missed out on a little while ago. They have been working on more Oldhammery Warhammer/Mordheim goodness and bringing together a fun Bretonnian army.

Bretonnians #1 by piers

Recently, some Knights and Crossbowmen have been coming together for this army. The miniatures are taken from ranges that were available during the 80s which is decidedly fitting for an old school army.

Bretonnians #2 by piers

A Bretonnian army works particularly well as a normal Medieval one which is pretty handy if you're trying to use the miniatures for both something Historical and Fantastical. I love the detail that piers works into his miniatures, from their clothing and armour through to the weapons and faces. I think the faces in particular look great.

Bretonnians #3 by piers

This force is going to be heading to the tabletop to begin a crusade against the island of Albion. I would assume that there are a fair few Fenbeasts that need banishing! The rank and file were done a while back and it has been updated with the cavalry and crossbowmen.
