Nostalgic Goblins by wormfooduk

We start this week with a look at wormfooduk who has been working away on actually sculpting their own Goblins with a nostalgic vibe for use on the tabletop. Inspired by the Goblins/Grots of old, wormfooduk has been using Blender to sculpt some Goblins before printing them on an Anycubic Photon 4k Mono.

Goblins #1 by wormfooduk

wormfooduk shows off the process of sculpting the different miniatures, starting with a basic Goblin shape which can be tweaked and changed to suit. Uninspired by modern Goblin sculpts, wormfooduk wanted to get across a lot of that 80s and 90s vibe in the sculpts and that certainly shows in some of the miniatures they have created so far.

I like that wormfooduk has been playing around with lots of different poses. You've got lots of them with those big, oversized guns for their little hands alongside plenty of punks! wormfooduk has also been working on some vehicles as you can see. Perfect for Goblin armies in the grimdark future!

wormfooduk also took some time to print some of the miniatures off as proof that they do work! Even if the image is a little blurry, you can see that the details have come through and they look awesome when built as part of a squad. Additionally, wormfooduk has also been thinking about a game for these miniatures and two gangs that can go head-to-head as part of a print-and-play starter pack. What do you think?

Building A Man Cave by darkdanegan

Next up, we're looking at something a little bit different. darkdanegan has been converting a room that used to be given over to the breeding of Skaven into a proper man cave that can play host to their painting and gaming.

Man Cave #1 by darkdanegan

As with any good plan, it starts with a plan! darkdanegan had been tinkering around with space for a painting desk and locations to store the likes of paints, miniatures and books. Equally, they also wanted to add in a gaming table which went from 4x4 through to 5x4 in the end. Placing it in front of the window it means that you're always going to get some nice natural light when playing your games.

Man Cave #2 by darkdanegan

As you can see, the room has evolved really nicely! You have lots of good shelf space in the room and a big desk which can play host to plenty of building and painting. The large gaming space also works really nicely and even if it's missing a foot, it is plenty of space for gaming and should work for a myriad of different games. The space underneath by using Kallax means that there is room to stuff books, dice, terrain and more so it is all within reach.

Man Cave #3 by darkdanegan

A few bits of equipment have made their way into the room as well now including the airbrush station and, as you can see, there is a full wall covered in paints which looks lovely. It seems like a good way to store them and have them easily accessible at the same time. Whilst this shows off the room as complete with all of its furniture, I'm keeping an eye out for the final reveal where we get to see the shelves covered in "stuff" and a game being played!

Skaventide by dugthefug1644

Last but not least, we have some great work by dugthefug1644 who has been working away at some amazing Skaventide miniatures. The Skaven are really nice in the new edition of Age Of Sigmar and so it's good to see more people painting them and making the miniatures pop.

Skaven #1 by dugthefug1644

dugthefug1644 did some excellent work on these and I really like the colour choice, going with the purple and the yellow to draw the eye. I think the work on the bases is also excellent and it's way more interesting than the boring mud that I did with mine! It helps to tell a cool story as they run through crumbling ruins and tunnels.

Skaven #2 by dugthefug1644

I also have to give a nod to dugthefug1644's work on the blood and grime across the miniatures. I think that dugthefug1644 has done a great job of making the miniatures just dirty and bloody enough without overdoing it. I think the work on the flesh is also great and I like that each of the Skaven feels a little bit ruddy and battered.

Skaven #3 by dugthefug1644

dugthefug1644 has also done a bit of converting and tinkering with the addition of tubes, pipes and more for some of the warmachines like the one above. The kitbashing has been a lot of fun to see and it shows off a slightly more unique set of miniatures compared to others out there. It's good to stand out from the swarm sometimes. This is making me want to dive in and get my own Skaven finished beyond the options for the Spearhead!
