Community Spotlight: Gun Nuts, Gasland Cars & Fantastic Tabletop Terrain
December 22, 2019 by crew
Come and join us for another delve into the Forums and Projects to find the best of the best from the last week or so. We're going to be getting stuck into lots of great looking pieces this week...
...make sure to always let us know what YOU have been working on and share it across the site.
Sgt Harker by reaperfcrew
We're kicking things off with a look at something from Warhammer 40,000, to begin with. Here we have a return to a bigger project from reaperfcrew where they have painted up this rather epic take on Sgt Harker.
This rather epic take on this character comes with a few little bits of conversion work. reaperfcrew added a rather large amount of muzzle flare into the mix as you can see in the image above, really giving it a proper comic book style. He has also worked on adding a mass of bullets to the base that have spilt forth from his heavy bolter and if you go and check out the project you'll also see them spilling forth from the other side of the weapon.
All of the models that we see from reaperfcrew have been produced in awesome detail and I love that a lot of the models are photographed in cool settings and terrain. It really helps in allowing you to appreciate how the models would look in the midst of a game.
Gaslands Cars by janus1004
Next up we're looking at some cool work and conversion awesomeness from janus1004 who has been working on some Gaslands cars. Leading the way we have a very brutal looking upgrade for a Citroen C5.
I always like seeing people tinker around with these toy cars and doing something different with them. This is a pretty simple addition to the mix here with guns on the top and a shovel at the front but it does make a difference. Of course, you've also go the crewman at the back who is watching out for those in hot pursuit.
As well as the Citroen there is also the sidekick that will be fighting alongside it as it cruises through the wasteland. Here is the second car, also presented in the update from the forums.
Now that is an armoured up car and it seems like it owes some allegiance to the Far East and Japan. I don't know what gave me that clue, perhaps the white and red combination? Gaslands is one of those games that I reckon we should really be playing more of on the tabletop, especially with the update!
Wargaming Terrain by amachan
Finally, we're turning our attention to a big long project from amachan who has been working away on a full gaming table worth of terrain and recently finished work on some woodland which helps to add a bit of cover to your tabletops.
All of the different stages have been documented as part of the project which you can check out above. As well as some great looking rolling fields and rocky outcrops the way the trees have come together is also fascinating. I have been looking at this exact method for my own trees and it's good to see that it does actually produce really nice looking foliage.
As I mentioned, the project has been going for quite a while and I think that we've maybe been overlooking this one considering the amount of content packed into it. I would highly recommend looking at the way amachan brought this awesome hill to life.
amachan is a prolific creator and hobbyist, working on models and terrain by the bucket load! I love how the terrain, in particular, has turned out and I reckon that I will be diving in and trying out a lot of the techniques put forth as part of the project.

Flocking well deserved buttons
Congratulations fantastic projects folks.
I particularly like Sgt Harker but they all deserve those buttons.
Thanks!
Well done all!
As to the Gaslands cars….
I think one of the reasons Gaslands has been a hit is that so many folks grew up playing with Hotwheels cars that we now as adults have an excuse to revisit our old passion again. Also, we love to kitbash stuff too!
I agree with this, the game has been a big hit with our club recently and I think a certain nostalgia and how accessible the game is is part of the explanation.
Also, many thanks for the button, an early Christmas gift.. 🙂
Nice — some of us on the Car Wars KS are asking for Car Wars weapon sprues. I’d personally like to see miniatures with magnetic attachment points so you can swap weapons! 😀
Thanks for the golden button! I know my username is weird and suggest a group of people, but I have to say that it is only me painting in my 40k project. 😀
Well deserved golden buttons all round! Would particularly like to call out @amachan whose in-project tutoring and colour guides are best practice, and certainly motivating me to up my own project write-up game. Keep up the great work!
Thank you. ☺️
There are many tools are available that can help the cars to provide good fuel efficacy. I would say before buying any car you need to check complete reviews of the car that can provide the https://electronicx.de/Sonstiges option where a variety of tools of available that can help you to maintain your car.
