Raising the Roof by Darkvoivod

This week we begin with two things I love scratch building terrain and tutorials, and darkvoivod has done outstanding work on both of those with his fantasy village. The buildings are the traditional tudoresque stone and timber build. The finish is lovely with some great detailing on the outside like the creeping flowers crawling their way up the stonework.

It's the interior finish that really shows the builds off to their maximum potential though. Darkvoivod said they thought they were moving into dollhouse territory with the detailing and I love it to bits. The attention taken looks amazing throughout the buildings from the flooring to the curtains to keep out the chills.

The build itself is fascinating a blend of old school scratch building, 3D printing and even some interesting little lasercut tools to help with marking bricks and planks on foam. Tremendous tutorial and well worth a read for anyone planning on doing their own builds.

Cultist Knights by robinquigleymini

Next up is a cultist knight but this isn't your regular chaos cultist it's much better than that it's a worshipper of the Four Armed Emperor and a magnificent centrepiece for a genestealer cult army.

Robin Cultist Knight Complete

Having removed a lot of the imperial iconography it was simply a matter of replacing those with 'stealer ones and then some hodgepodge wiring to get it up and running again completing the look.

The paint job really sells the overall theme of something that has been repurposed and I love the pilot with the cockpit opened and lit by the internal screens in a sickly green. The basing also ties the knight to the rest of the force and the addition of some gretchin there taking shots at likely targets both breaks up the basing and sets it in the middle of a battle.

Terminator (but only the good ones) by Denzien

Denzien is nothing if not a perfectionist and in deciding to revisit River Horse's Terminator the first thing he decided was to ignore the terrible films and put together forces that make sense based on what we saw in the only two films that actually matter/exist.

Denzien John Connor

Like total football Denzien likes to play total wargaming and as such any model can be drafted in to replace any other, this is especially true of the resistance. Cannon Fodder, Star Grave, SG1, it doesn't matter where they come from they can be drafted into the fight as humanity rails against the rise of the robots!

Denzien Resistence

It wouldn't be a project from Denzien if he didn't include some terrain to go with his layout and in this case, he has used Mantic's fantastically modular sci-fi terrain with some details added from a galaxy far, far away. It helps provide a fitting backdrop for the near future forces and is very striking visually with a limited three colour palette.
