Great idea, with the review on backstage, the command check is a killer for small units, and loosing 40% of the Leo 2s in turn one did get John on the back foot, that said they might have been overexposed just because they could go with the recon deployment had they gone in cover who know …
Nato forces in defence can suffer from limited options sometimes. The table was quite small and this took away the advantage of longer range killing capability from the Leo 2s. German infantry is good, but not when they’re on the move and small units for Nato means more chances of failing morale tests. All considered John’s tactic was fine with what he had and with a little more luck with dice rolls he might have held the ground better. @dignity, I have used my Soviet T-72 battalion in three smaller Companies of 4 to 5 tanks. My opponent has a W German Leopard 2 heavy force and although the smaller T-72 Companies can suffer against good shooting (and dice rolling) the W Germans can’t shoot at everything. I use the smaller T-72 Companies to play more of a manoeuvre battle, whilst the Leopards are evaporating one Company I have the other two dash and really go for the breakthrough forcing the W Germans to have to react and displace from cover.
