Get involved and let us know what you think of the new factions and more!
Which faction will you be playing as?
ah … just in time, because my blood&plunder pledge has arrived 🙂
The limited edition rulebook from the kickstarter is bigger & even prettier.
It feels like an actual book from the era.
Mine too!! My poor Dutch were missing their commander though 🙁
I think Blood and Plunder has been a breath of fresh in the age of piracy wargaming.
I tried the games last Adepticon and it was fun, the community in my area is not too big unfortunate so is hard to convince people to play…
I think that’s a problem for anyone who doesn’t play [insert popular game] in his area.
That is a common problem and why I do not get into a lot of new miniature games. Unless you have others who want to play, it is not much fun. There is one local shop I go to where it is 40K or Hordes and nothing else. Another where it is Infinity and Star Wars X-Wing Game and nothing else. Thankfully I have a shop where people seem to like to mix it up a bit and so I can play Guild Ball and Star Wars Legion and people who play Saga and some others. I do not believe… Read more »
I hope for it too, I would love to have the feeling of more skirmish than having all the terrain or ships to really attract the people in my area.
I solved this by buying complete ranges. That said, 99% of the games I play are fairly small warband to small skirmish level games (Quar, World of Twilight, War of Ashes, Savage Core, Relicblade, Tribal, Rogue Stars). The only big games I have are Blood and Plunder, and Saga. Which I’ve mostly replaced with Tribal. It’s fairly easy for me to build armies for multiple people to play with. Quar, War of Ashes, Savage Core, and World of Twilight also have miniature ranges that I would collect and paint even if I wasn’t playing the games. I think if you… Read more »
Easier said than done and I have tried. The shopkeeper at the 40K shop does not want anything to take business away from the 40K items. The infinity shop feels the same about his game of choice. They do not want the competition to take away from their store and do not want to bring in another line. I also have limited funds and time and unless my brother or best friend are interested, it is not happening. Everyone is all in on Star Wars Legion and Guild Ball so that is what we play. I am not going to… Read more »
Its sad how brick and mortar stores have changed in order to stay in business. You need to find a gaming store or a mom and pop place to work with. If they can order Firelock through their distributors then offer to run a demo to drum up sales for them. However they have to promote it. Then if you are lucky you can find one other soul to join you in pirate gaming.
why not in the glory of the Spanish empire gaming 😉
Oak and Iron for the win! Check out kickstarter!
Looking really good can’t wait for more content
Firelock continues to impress with every new faction. With such a balanced system you don’t have to worry about the new factions coming in and just wrecking your old crews.
it’s humans vs humans … so I’d guess that makes balancing a lot easier 😉
If only that were true ?
It’s still rocket science to me …
That was said on sci-fi concepts forum and the man they were talking to was a…… for NASA!
I’m all for a sort of crowdfunding to get things out quicker, but it’s going to sting when it comes to shipping and customs fees unless they find an overseas partner for the EU.
Awesome game though, I hope it keeps growing!
It’s going to sting in the U.S., too. I think shipping for a single blister adds 50% or more to the cost. I’d rather see them release groups of models together every few months rather than trickle them in.
What about alternate sources of models ?
The rules are the only thing you really need for this game.
Then again … this company does deserve support.
Their stuff is at wayland games
Oh man, now I’ve got to start painting pirates! That is a gorgeous rule book.
I love this game and the incredible detail and all the thought they put into the mechanics. Whatever they make I will buy so I NEED to win some stuff!!
I am so excited to see the Dutch in this game. And pirates in the snow? Awesome1
I’m excited to see the Dutch in any game/era.
This one is special, because we ruled the seas 🙂
I have a special affection for the Dutch. I worked for Philips for 37 years. I have been to Holland 7 or 8 times. Beautiful country and really great people!
For the Dutch you really need to set it in the Banda Islands in what is now Indonesia
Yep, Indonesia is where we did the most damage *eh* had the most success (depending on who you ask). That would be the ‘Verenigde Oost Indische Compangie’ (VOC) to give it its official name.
Then again … Piet Heyn’s success at capturing the silver fleet (only half of the actual fleet) is worth something too. However from what I’ve heard it wasn’t much of a battle, but then there’s always the ‘what if’ variants to explore.
If you can find it read Nathaniels nutmeg by Giles Milton it’s a superb book about the spice wars. He also wrote Big Chief Elizabeth about the colonization of America

Love the new funding idea. Kick Starters are great but we have to wait too long. Breaking it up means a pretty steady flow of new stuff.
Have been looking forward to this, have been playing Blood and Plunder for some time, and have the new book already, need to invest in the Dutch they are looking great, and some upgrades to my French and English factions, and some of the different new characters, and some………………………..
Yes I have to invest more in this great game.
Always wanted to try this game.
oops double post.
I’m always a fan of pirate themed games… or pirate themed anything really!
Yeah pirate games are cool.
Better than ninja games Lloydie?
Only because you get to do outrageous over the top impressions!
was very lucky to get a game or two of this in with the creators. The attention to detail in the rules and the historical accuracy to give a feeling of how the factions fought was great. Native Americans are excellent by the way, I loved them ^^
Blood and Plunder looks so much fun.
Very interesting period to game and campaign in. Anyone got a spare historical editor and spreadsheet?
Awesome game.. Awesome company. Tight seamless rule set that is a pleasure to play. Cant wait for more. I like plastics but am really happier with single cast models. Too many options hurts my head.. lol.
Really like the look of this game, played the old Legends of the High Seas a fair bit, fancy something new.
Perfect timing for this. My pledge rewards arrived recently. Already trying to figure out what my next additions should be.
Great to see BP back! Such a stunningly looking game.
This has been played in the local gaming club, but I have not tested it… would be fun to paint a force of these!
Arrrr?
Firelock is knocking it out of the park. I’ve been too busy with other games this past year, but I would like to play the Spanish or Amerindian factions.
Love seeing the blood and plunder stuff, but just can’t justify getting into a new game. There are far too many good options out there at present, just can do them all. Now if a free copy was winging its a fair chance i’d have a go at it.
A Freudian slip there: just CAN do them all! Go for it!!
Lets see more ships 🙂
