Blood & Plunder: Raise The Black Live On Kickstarter
October 6, 2020 by brennon
Firelock Games have now hoisted the mainsail and set out onto the high seas as the Kickstarter for Blood & Plunder: Raise The Black has gone live!
Check Out Blood & Plunder: Raise The Black On Kickstarter
The universe of Blood & Plunder is moving into the 18th Century with this new addition to the range. As well as taking these sea-worthy miniatures into a new era of historical pirate adventure you'll also find that you're able to get started in the game with a new all-plastic Starter Set featuring the deadly pirate Blackbeard and his clash against the Royal Navy and Lieutenant Robert Maynard.
Blood & Plunder Raise The Black Plastic Starter Set
Inside the set, you'll find everything that you'll need in order to dive into the excellent 28mm Blood & Plunder game. As well as all of the accessories, bits and bobs you'll get the new plastic Sailor miniatures which you'll be using to build your crews plus the two main characters of the piece, the aforementioned Blackbeard and Maynard. You also get two freckin' amazing looking plastic ships. Both are Sloops but crafted in the configurations of the Balandra and Bermuda.
Blood & Plunder: Raise The Black Pledge Levels
The Captain Pledge gets you access to the new Starter Set but you've also got a lot of other options to consider when diving into this project. You can go with something less expensive or more expensive based on how deep you want to dive into Blood & Plunder.
Raise The Black Pledge Levels // Firelock Games
For those of you who are already invested in Blood & Plunder the new books and unit boxes are pretty key as they help you expand your existing collection with a few extra options. Settling in as a Press-Ganger allows you to mix and match as you see fit if you'd rather wait and see when it comes to the campaign too.
Blood & Plunder: Raise The Black Add-Ons
As well as the options above you've also got these Add-Ons which might be key for those who go in at that Press-Ganger level. This gives you the new Softcover Rulebook, Raise The Black expansion and a whole selection of different options too.

Again, this seems like a great way to dive in and pick up some additional options for the game if you've already invested in Blood & Plunder. I do have to say though that the new 28mm plastic miniatures are looking fantastic and it is very hard to manoeuvre around the new Blood & Plunder Two-Player Starter Set which seems like a superb entry point plus a way to build your crews up.
Stretch Goals and more are on the way so it would be a good idea to bookmark the Kickstarter Page and make sure that you keep an eye on their updates as the campaign continues. There should be a lot of new characters and such making their way to the fore of the ship during this Kickstarter.

Make sure to give the video a watch as it gives a great breakdown of their thought process with the campaign and what you've got to look forward to with those new 28mm plastics.
After you've explored the Kickstarter make sure to let us know what you think of the new set and those new miniatures in the comments below...
Are you tempted to set sail?

oooh … shiny … must have treasure
Hello. Who’s a pretty boy then?
NICE!
Lloyd, you’re my favorite. Don’t tell anyone! I still have your socks.
Can not resist…… and backed.
I can resist anything aside from temptations …I backed it in the first 100
I don’t know… somehow the concept of ship battle and infantry battle at the same time… I feel like “too much”. Also, at 110€ it’s not cheap… I do like the big ships though…
That deluxe version of the rulebook is worth its weight in gold though … at least the one that came with their previous Blood&Plunder was.
This will be the same exact type of book, but it will have Raise the Black content instead of No Peace Beyond the Line.
I would encourage you watch some of the videos on here of the Blood & Plunder sea battles. We are quite proud of the intuitive, yet realistic and simple system we have put in place to merge the two! The game play transitions seamlessly between land and sea 🙂
I’ve seen some of the videos. It simply does not grab me, sorry. Not my cup of coffee. No offense.
I’ve been waiting for this all year!
I grabbed my Admiral Pledge right away.
I’ve never been disappointed with anything that Firelock Games has published. In my humble opinion, every cent that I’ve put into buying their games has been well spent and paid me back in huge dividends of enjoyment.
Go ahead and get yours, you’ll be glad you did! ???
yep … me too.
The quality of their games has increased every single time.
I hope they can do good plastic models too.
At Pirate Hunter for now … I might yet talk myself into Admiral
The fallguy of the sea’s?
great figures.
Great game and based in historical fact! ?
Yes the pirate’s nowadays have Armani suits an Ferrari’s not as romantic for writers.
Just balancing up the Hunter and Admiral levels. Not sure I need the upgraded book or if I would want to even use it (cause I wouldnt want to damage it). I could spend the difference in levels on a few more boxes of soldiers or sailors. Out of curiosity what do people think it is better to get sailors or soldiers? Thinking sailors as soldiers seem to be more common minis and easier to make up for EU ground troops.
Does anyone know, if the plastic boxes have multipose, or monopose minis?
Multipose. Check out our latest update 🙂
Thanks!
It looks like a great starter set, but at nearly £100 I am being a bit cautious. Although they have said there shouldn’t be import taxes for UK & European buyers, I couldn’t see what the actual postage charges might be, and they can be huge for American based kickstarters. So I might wait to buy it retail or secondhand.
If you click on back the kickstarter it will give you the postage cost straight up. UK shows as $11 for me for a total of $130US.
I got an email from another american compay about a kickstarter. And it stated that vat was going up in EU and UK for them to send items to me in UK. So it kind of puts me off till i know how much this is going to cost me.
I can certainly appreciate that concern. Especially this year! But rest assured, you will only pay the shipping amount quoted on Kickstarter and nothing more.
This was an easy pledge. Went Admiral as I’m lovin’ all what’s there. Firelock Games is such a great, fun company and I’m glad to see them growing. Congrads guys!
Thanks for the support everyone! 😀
