Black Powder Red Earth: High-Octane Modern Combat Gaming On Your Tabletop #OTTWeekender
September 6, 2024 by avernos
It's OTTWeekender time! The guys take a look at Black Powder Red Earth in the Indie of the Week, bringing high-octane wargaming to the tabletop with this ultra-modern combat game. Using a quick-to-play rule set players direct small unit kill teams in pitched close combat infantry battles in games that are fast, furious, and still brimming over with tactical depth and strategy.
Alongside the rules, Eschelon also has some beautiful models for both the Crisis Scorch teams and the Aayari Guard with their Hongbin Mercenary allies. Combine that with a minimalist set of floor plans that are used for every scenario it means you can get your games running immediately without needing to worry about not having the correct terrain on hand.

Evil hobbitses … we hates them … we hates them all.
But given their diet and the self induced force feeding, they would make a good replacement for turkey at xmas.
Those modern warfare minis looks great but I suck at painting black
its weekender time!!!
“Wanna play black powder red earth” – it might be me slightly sleep deprived and grumpy but that’s a stupid name for a game in my book… but what do I know.
It started as a graphic novel series, so I doubt they had a mini game planned when the name originally was created.
Doesn’t really make the name better XD
why do you think it’s a stupid name, I’m curious.
☹️
I’ve just picked up the Silver Bayonet Egypt book so very excited for the new themed minis.
Bunch of dwarves go to mug a dragon and some sneaky little hobbit steals a big shiny rock.
Hi COGz an OTTers it’s weekender time folk’s ???
I really enjoy the 2000AD games that Warlord Games has produced, but ABC Warriors didn’t catch my eye like the other sets have. The only mini that stands out to me is the Grav Car. I think I could find a use for that in lots of games.
Ooh crap sorry to hear that Paul ????
The black powder sounds very real world nowadays ? could well be a fabulous game to play.
An Gerry get’s accosted by the all black rugby squad next week.

My Friday night routine; Go shoot some arrows then home, sit back with beer and watch the Weekender after that the rest of the weekend can begin. Very sad news with regard to Paul Sawyer. I don’t know him personally but on the Warlord videos he came across as the sort of bloke I’d very much like to know. Hopefully he gets some real quality time with his family. Tonight’s weekender has left me starting to feel a bit left behind with regard to the world of 3D printing. There is so much good stuff around and it just keeps… Read more »
Pour one out for Paul
This is a great way to start the weekend!
The Traders Galaxy miniatures are interesting just not sure if they’re my style. But some GW dwarfs from The Hobbit might be nice. Just saying.
Interesting stuff coming up in this episode!
