Happy Weekender Everyone ???
merry christmas
??
Happy Easter!

It’s the Weekend!
The new samurai clan in Bushido? Oooh, suits me sir!
“This is Free” and nobody took the chance to photoshop Frees face into the YouTube thumbnail *g* oh noooooes!
Being named Free is certainly interesting. Maths at school was always fun. Being a southerner, Free sounds exactly like Three. Always think people are calling me… They are not. ?
And I guess it’s a nightmare when the boss asks “Are you free (for work)”. You never can say “no” unless you change your name XD
Nothing in life is Free… Oh wait. Degenisis and Free on the same channel?! Bananas. ?
The London and Essex accent certainly do make ‘free’ and ‘three’ sound similar. This is not broadly the same across the south of england. Note – I was born in Essex but after many years away have lost the accent.
Yep! I’m slap bang on the edge of East London gearing out to Essex, Free/Three, Towel/Tail and Bull/Ball/Bawl all make up the same words hehe.
I think you will find its pronounced “Laaandon”.
Simply the best start to every weekend! Have a great time folks.
Have a lovely weekend to you toooo!
The Degenesis stuff, I’d never heard of but looks incredible. I can imagine that all these FREE resources will enable RPG sessions with players located across the globe akin to joining a video game. Amazing. @avernos how on earth do you unearth such beautiful things and narrate with such passion akin to David Attenborough that the viewer clings on to every single word that you utter with absolute awe. ?
in this case @elysium64 is 100% responsible for telling me to visit and do it as an indie, and I have to say he was right to do so
However @avernos it’s the way you present such items that makes the piece so watchable and absorbing. Every week I learn something new via you and want to tune in to hear your utterances. It’s fast becoming akin to having a tutorial with your favourite Uni Professor! Keep going and bottle that enthusiasm. ??? Oh… I should add @brennon has become an amazing encyclopaedia and @FCostin is such a breath of fresh air – get Free on the entry credits! ?
It is pretty amazing how much they have produced, for free. It’s one of those games where you ‘want’ to pay the extra for the books.
funded another one last night 3 hours after the weekender, I’m going to take credit for that 😛
It may be the best free RPG, but we all know its not the Greatest Movie ever Made.
Sweet Jumpin’ Jeebus, Degenesis had me hooked during the Indie segment, but after only a few minutes clicking about on their website I got the full line and sinker effect. I’m in. Damnit.
I did nothing
and I shall see you in the discord I’m sure
It’s the Weekender!
‘Degenesis’ looks amazing! I’m bookmarking it for a future investment. I can always count on OTT to find me something new to catch my eye and I look forward to seeing the interview talked about. They remind me of an art group I once knew that had some utterly fantastic artists. Each working on a piece of a story that they all added to in their own style.
afternoon
i have known about Degenesis for years always wanted to get but it was out of my price range, the short films are a very clever idea. But i love the idea of what they have done with it now i may look again … the 75mm figures that scale 75 have done are wonderful as well….
I was looking at the models this evening but resisted and bought more books instead
Some people commenting on Degenesis have mentioned that there is a large disparity between how advanced the different cultural groups are in terms of their technology (from crossbows and clubs through to transhuman technology) and that they find this somewhat incongruent. Does anyone with any familiarity with the setting have any thoughts on that?
do you mean as far as groups running up against each other or just that the filthy Swiss blew the bridges while other people are peasants?
As i understood it the perceived incongruence was about groups running up against each other in the sense that they wouldn’t coexist (for long) because the more advanced groups would conquer or assimilate the less advanced groups.
I shall ask, but my initial thought would be to look at our own worlds history and the disparity in technological levels between nations, sometimes it was easy to achieve such and other times it ended in a stalemate.
But I’ve posted it over on their discord to see what others say. I shall report back.
Appreciated. I have just joined the Degensis discord and i see your question.
I know Tots seen these replies but in case anyone is wondering here are some of the answers from players of Degenesis… The main issue is that the people with advanced tech generally number far fewer than the people with clubs and crossbows Plus they don’t have a lot of supplies for their equipment. If you take the Hellvetics, they rely on 3d printers to get their ammo. You can have the best equipment in the world and not be able to fill it. And not everyone is an imperialistic faction, Spitalians are not there to create a nation under… Read more »
Yay the weekender is back.
What an indie… thank you for Degenesis. Actually i played the first release and it was great, but didn’t dive deeper. I would love to see a one shot.
Wow degenesis is looking hugely fantastic.
a great show guys.
Wild Assent is Another cracker from LSG just like Stormsunder. Defo a company to watch grow.
It does feel like they’ve hit the nail on the head with the style and gameplay of Wild Assent.
Degenesis might be the best free RPG ever, but the website and hoops you have to go through and over the top stylized website that simply gets in the way made me just quit trying to download anything.
I don’t think it was that complicated. I’m sure that Gerry could show you the exact link you needed though.
So Free wants to get into Gerry’s trousers. Welcome to the land of the wet.
Can you blame her? I mean, who wouldn’t want to get into such colourful trousers?
I would be living my best life in those trousers. Might drown in them considering I’m Hobbit size and Gerry is an ent. But so worth it.
Can I suggest using them to build a pillow fort? Nice and snug in Gerrys trousers. What’s not to love 😀
Lockdown and D&D Saw this on the news this morning so thought I’d share https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-57636378
Roleplaying is awesome.
Great spot… I’ve shared the link with my Special Educational Needs groups as a possible activity. ??
Your welcome I hope they take your idea forward I think it’s great plan
Degenesis looks amazing, a few people from my gaming group and I recently tried to get back into RPG with D&D but it didn’t quite sit right, going to check it out as an option with them. The more I see Wild Assent pop up this week the more I’m tempted to pick it up.
600+ page RPG with monthly release of new books. I take it nobody has time to actually play the game, just read the books and look at the nice artwork.
OTT is starting a new ASMR channel with Gerry repeating the words ‘indie of the week’ until we all drift off to sleep.
A weekend of painting methinks
Definitely going to jump into Degenesis, looks like a really interesting setting. It would also make a great skirmish game with RPG elements.
Happy Saturday and another great show.
Three of the best hosts, but I’m wishing we could see more of the brothers. I imagine they are busy with lots of work behind the scenes.
One is on holiday and the other is very busy – I’m sure they will be back soon
