Atomic Mass Games Reveal New Marvel: Crisis Protocol Core Set!
August 3, 2023 by brennon
Marvel: Crisis Protocol has been growing since 2019 and Atomic Mass Games has decided that now is the time to bring a brand new Core Set to the tabletop for folks to dive into. Featuring new miniatures, updated components and more, this is designed to be an ace jumping-off point for those wanting to get stuck into a Marvel mash-up on the tabletop.
Earth's Mightiest Core Set // Marvel: Crisis Protocol
Earth's Mightiest Core Set allows Atomic Mass Games to bring an updated look and feel to Marvel: Crisis Protocol that builds on the state of the game in 2023. One of the significant elements of this was revisiting the miniatures from the original Crisis Protocol Core Set, giving them a new look and feel, tweaking the way they go together and coming up with fun new poses for the various characters.
New Hero Miniatures // Marvel: Crisis Protocol
Familiar faces return with Captain America, Winter Soldier, Black Widow, Iron Man and Spider-Man fighting into the fray alongside a new Captain Marvel who comes in her Normal and Binary forms. On the villain side of things, we've got some equally awesome-looking miniatures!
New Villain Miniatures // Marvel: Crisis Protocol
Baron Zemo, Red Skull, Crossbones and Doctor Octopus are joined by a mighty new take on Ultron who comes alongside a band of Ultron Drones that will no doubt swarm the tabletop and make the job of the heroes that much harder!

The new miniatures link into the way they wanted to expand the new Core Set mechanically as well as with its miniatures. As well as being a good starting point for someone, it also introduces additional mechanics that Atomic Mass has explored over the years including transforming characters and grunts.
New Black Widow // Marvel: Crisis Protocol
As well as updated Stat Cards for the various heroes presented here, there are also updated Tactics Cards included which help to create new and interesting combinations for you to try out on the tabletop.

As well as the miniatures, you'll also be able to get your hands on new terrain alongside all of the tokens and accessories that you'll need to play the game. This does seem like a clean, useful upgrade of the original Core Set that should be fun for folks to dive into.
This new Core Set is going to be coming in Autumn alongside the new Crisis Card Pack 2023.
2023 Crisis Pack // Marvel: Crisis Protocol
This set comes with twenty-three Crisis Cards which break down into ten updated Extract Mission Cards and thirteen updated Secure Mission Cards. This should mean that you have everything you need to play out any scenario and take your adventures from the core set to the next level.
More Marvel: Crisis Protocol Previews!
As well as what was shown off for the new Core Set, there were also some sneaky looks ahead to what's coming for Marvel: Crisis Protocol.
What's New For Marvel: Crisis Protocol?
The team discussed a whole host of new miniatures coming our way including more for those who like Spider-Man including Gwenom and Scarlet Spider (one of my favourites!).
Gwenom & Scarlet Spider // Marvel: Crisis Protocol
Electro, Shocker, Sandman, Vulture // Marvel: Crisis Protocol
You are also going to be able to pick up a bunch of additional X-Men characters! The X-Men are a hot favourite of a lot of folks and so seeing more of these iconic characters is going to be ace!
Ice-Man, Kitty Pride (Shadowcat) & Lockheed // Marvel Crisis Protocol
Nightcrawler & Bishop // Marvel: Crisis Protocol
Xavier & Shadow King // Marvel: Crisis Protocol
Some awesome new miniatures for those looking to build up their collection. Ice-Man was always one of my favourite X-Men and I love the look of Bishop. Additionally, Shadow King is another way that Atomic Mass is diving into what's cool and fun from the Marvel universe.
Finally, we also got this immense diorama piece that is also coming in the future for the Wakandans out there...
Wakanda Diorama // Marvel: Crisis Protocol
A great diorama that will come with some awesome miniatures to boot. I can see this adorning a lot of mantlepieces when this arrives at some point in 2024.
With all of this great Marvel: Crisis Protocol news, are you going to be diving in and snapping up some of these miniatures or perhaps starting out with that Core Set?

While it’s super nice to see more Crisis News, I am SO far behind! Saying that, yay for Scarlet Spider and more Sinister Foes of Spider-Man!
Would be funny if they went to 28mm in kind of a reverse legion…
For a few seconds I was excited… as excited as I get anyway… I’ve been waiting for a new starter set for MCP as it’s the only relatively cheap way to get into the game. But they I realised that it’s mostly just resculpts of the stuff in the first starter box. I was hoping for 10 new heroes and villains. Back to my old plan… try to locate some cheap heroclix, or suitable proxies to go with the card pack I bought last year. MCP makes Shatterpoint and GW look cheap with their prices for a box of two… Read more »
have you try Etsy? if you want some MCP figures that fit to scale. There is a company called C27 miniatures that do some really impressive “fan sculpts” – at the moment they seem to be doing a full range based upon the Imperial Guard from Chris Claremonts “Dark Phoenix” storyline! Super cool stuff.
I have looked on etsy before, but not found the ones I was after from the 2022 card deck.
People tend to be careful what they call the sculpts to avoid being copyright and you have to think outside the box to guess name.
I’ll look for c27 when I get chance. Thanks.
@rickabod41 can you please send me £47.60 to reimburse me for the purchases made a result of you point me towards C27 on etsy…
They had a sale on for the next 6 hrs… I couldn’t help myself…
ha ha! To be fair I am waiting for an order myself!
Trying to finish my Peter David X-Factor team, and I had to pick up a Black Knight!
One day I will start a new project on here to spotlight the crazy amount of MCP stuff I have bought (official and “Fan”) stuff!
It’s gotten so bad I have started buying buildings from TT Combat. I feel like I might have a problem, but I am not sure there is an AA equivalent for miniature buying.

Wonder why they didn’t go for an X-Men starter box.
Well most of the heroes/villains in this box are featured in the MCU, the X-Men are not (yes I know Xavier is in Strange 2, but that is one of how many movies?) .
And I think there are quite a few people who know Marvel only from the movies so this make sense.
Ooh nice.
A +50% price increase for a core box? This product line is in the endgame now.
