And done 😀 . Bloody hard to choose a vote in more than a few of the categories.
Got my votes in! As usual, it was a tough choice in places for me too!
Wow that was tough, so many good choices.
Only two of my choices made the list, which made voting extremely difficult. Nevertheless votes cast and in some cases no choice made. Looking forward to the awards night.
Voted, but a disappointing lot this year so lots of no answer for me,
too much stuff I don’t think deserves to be there and too much stuff I think should not represented but I guess that’s the will of the community
Certainly is…but that’s what makes the awards good, they are a community driven thing rather than just a few bods in a darkened room picking what they think would be good so in a way it give them a lot more validity than some other awards in the industry.
Also @orlandothetechnicoloured feel free to discuss what should/shouldn’t have made it on mate – that’s a big part of the awards mate and very happy for folk to express their opinions on this 🙂
I started this and cancelled out at the end… The terrain category was really good, but most of the other categories contained 5 items that I hadn’t even heard of. The thing that I really have the issue with the inclusion of is the army painter paint set – I feel this is a compilation substantially made up of previous products (how many of the individual paints are new in 2016?) and the other issue I have with the set is that many of the bottles actually say that the colours are 100% copied from citadel on the bottle. Model… Read more »
2017 award nominations will not run until after march next year.
No, none of the bottles say they are “100% copied from citadel”. The bottles that say 100% on them refer to them having a colour match to an Army Painter Colour Primer spray.
Was surprised that the best paint job didn’t feature the Golden Demon Slayer and Crystal Brush winner, Nagash on his throne.
this is for 2016, he doesn’t qualify by virtue of the fact he was placed in 2017
Not too many votes from me as I can’t really vote for things where I haven’t played or used all the games or accessories in each category so I can make an informed decision
Really great to see a best sculpt category in this year 🙂
Weren’t the nominations like many months ago?
yes its basically a resource issue the guys have been snowed under with stuff, so the awards have slipped.
Understandable. They need a data John.
Great survey. Just goes to show how the quality of releases these days is going from great to excellent.
some choices were made harder by having two of the items and loving both
Voted. Some real hard choices there.
Done, some hard choices there
Some really hard choices in this one, and the worst one was……………………… Best Miniatures Game. If i could of voted for more than just the one i would have.
I hope green stuff world get’s it I think those things are great!
Hard choices!
Next year you may want to consider breaking out best painted miniature into two categories. One for figures that are playable in a game and those that aren’t or 30mmish vs larger as several this year are huge pieces.
Tricky one @monkeysloth the awards are now up to 13 Categories Already (and I’m hoping by year three we are starting to get the structure more solid lol)
Best paint job kinda requires the voter to look past the miniature and see the bigger artistic and technical skill by the artist. (No easy challenge!)
The painting category could easily be split out into it’s own set of rewards, but considering the number of prestigious awards for painting out there already then leaving it as a one category catch-all seems best to me.
Done!
Looking good!
Aaaaaand done! A lot of corkin’ entries there!
Disappointed that I couldn’t vote for the tape measure
Voted! I tragically missed the nominations as I was swamped at the time (standing for election!), so glad I got to take part in the final vote. I really like the categories this year. Some very difficult choices and it’s true that several of them _could_ be split further, but there’s no perfect solution. I feel that there are enough different kinds of categories to recognise what goes on in this diverse hobby and that if you did split some of them down further, you’d never end. Some were very hard to pick answers for (best gaming artwork, best miniatures… Read more »
I agree with you @angelicdespot 🙂 The awards are hard work and involve a lot of folk at different stages (big thanks to our community team behind the scenes who we run everything past – more about them on awards night though!) We agonise over the categories but yes there is no perfect solution (we have to balance complexity and even show length). After the nominations stage completes there is a lengthy process where the nominees at the top of the lists are checked for eligibility and even if they are in the right category etc.. This year we moved… Read more »
I’d have thought it would be good to aim to get them done within the 6 months following the end of the year. That’s soon enough for people to feel that a ‘look back’ makes sense. By October / November people are in ‘looking forward’ mode even if the behind the scenes arguments and logistic all point towards taking a considerable period of time to ‘get it right’. Still, we’re not ‘owed’ these awards and I know you’ve had masses on this year. I’m just glad that they’re happening. It’s also not like it’s the end of the world that… Read more »
“I’d have thought it would be good to aim to get them done within the 6 months following the end of the year.” Yup it would 🙂 But that doesn’t move Salute, Adepticon, UKGE, Gencon etc 🙂
There has to be a best Kickstarter category – Leo & Quirkworthy would win that hands down for interaction, communication and sheer volume of content plus the games rock and the minis are fantastic.
May the best win!
Just finished voting. Whew there were some tough decisions in that poll! 🙂
