August 28, 2016 by brennon
The Lord Inquisitor Prologue short will be hitting Youtube at around 7pm BST and will be the first real sighting of this epic undertaking beyond trailers and sample work. You will be able to watch it here on Warpgazer.
It looks like it's going to be a fun one to tune in for and as it's taken a long time to get to this point we can't wait to see the fruits of their labours.
Will you be keeping an eye out for this one?

So on the artistic side the only line anyone could come up with was stolen from an old Python sketch that has been done to death and on the technical side, they failed in their attempt to completely sync dialogue to mouth animation as it is slightly off. Not holding my breath on this one.
Can you appreciate the fact that a lot of work has gone into it from dedicated people? It has to be better than 40k the movie. This isn’t a big budget movie that has a huge studio backing it up, I think it’s admirable that he even tried to do it nevermind to this standard.
6 Years in the making – now that’s a lot of work
You do know that the vid above is a year old so there’s been time for them to have fixed the lip sync right?
This video is a year old? We know that?
One possibility is that the time sync issues were introduced with the upload. In that case, there’s hope that they’ll fix it before we get to the proper finished film.
its just the time lag in the broadcast from the 41 century?
seriously? are you aware that this guy dedicated quite a bit of his life just to make it happen? mate show some respect.
I’m not going to bash him personally, but as someone who has been on the production side of films before, I can tell you that no one gets a pass for effort.
Directors like Ewe Bol and Ed Wood really put their heart and soul into films, but the skill and artistic sensibility was so utterly lacking that it didn’t matter.
As for this little bit- I’m not feeling disappointed.
Not to disparage the movie, I think it’s fine for a small team. But the idea that you owe someone respect simply because they dedicated time to something is utterly ridiculous. Whatever it is they dedicated time to has to be worthy of of that respect. Having said that, if you make art public it’s also a valid target for criticism. Did you not like the Transformers movie? Well too bad, Michael bay has dedicated a significant portion of his life to that franchise, show some god damned respect. You think the Star Wars prequels were garbage? Well your opinion… Read more »
And it is a shame as I know the fans really want a good one. Saw many friends get burned by the last few attempts so it would be nice to see a real knockout but I fear the curse of over expectations.
Have realistic expectations then….
You are right, this is probably not going to be the single best piece of animated film the world has ever seen!!!, BUT you can be damned sure it will be entertaining and it’s in the world of 40K!!!
This is going to be well worth the watch and is an incredible achievement from what is essentially a small team of fans.
I learnt along time ago that only seeking perfection (especially in this hobby) will leave you unhappy and unfulfilled….. and covered in paint striper….
UPDATE: Having now watched the prologue I can say I really enjoyed it!! It does feel like an intro to what would be the best ever GW computer game, but for a piece of fan fiction it is truly astounding. Erasmus Brosdau I salute you.
Now, only if GW would get behind this and give it the budget it really deserves for completion.
“He hadn’t even smoked any of that Lho-stick before dropping it. If members of the Emperor’s most esteemed Inquisition can requisition, then brazenly waste our Lords’ finest commodities, then why should us lowly Administratum clerks? I have to conduct three weeks self-flagellation if I tear a piece of vellum with my autoscriber, it’s just not fair!”
(Knocks at door)
“THIS IS THE INQUISITION, HERETIC! OPEN UP!”
“Oh, frak.”
You must be kidding, Monty Python meets the Inquisition 40k. If this is the limit of the best that can be done then I would rather that it this sad facade is not released. “No one expects the inquisition should be very quickly followed by the baddy being described by a screeching wo-man as “He’s not the (Insert as required), He’s a very, very naughty boy!” Sorry but I do not even play computer games but have watched my mates lads play and this is poor even by the graphics standard. Real actors in real green screened backdrops etc, even… Read more »
ChrisG are you aware that this guy dedicated quite a bit of his life just to make it happen? mate show some respect please.
Right, so no one is allowed to dislike, or criticize, something which someone has been doing for a long time. Is mindlessly liking stuff your way of showing “respect”? I’m pretty sure the maker(s) of the movie can manage without your imaginery attempts at rescuing their honour and respect.
Erm, didn’t you just do to radegast6 what he did to chrisg, but with a little less respect.
I find BoW is becoming a site where you really are better off not reading the comments section of any news article especially so when it involves GW.
Please do not turn my beloved BoW into a cesspit like warseer and its ilk.
Radegast tried to enforce his narrowminded view of “respect” and tried to silence someone who expressed negative opinions about something. I questioned that. If you don’t see the difference then we don’t really have much to say on the matter.
“Radegast tried to enforce his narrowminded view of “respect””
I believe his words were “mate show some respect please”
You are right we really don’t have much to say on the matter.
@chrisg It’s clear that a vast amount of work has gone into this, your reference to computer games is deeply confused. Do you know what the development budget of computer games is? No I thought not. The average cost of a AAA title is $40-60 million dollars, and serious top end titles can go well over $100,000,000. And before you say anything, I am talking development costs, the cost of marketing as with everything is often double the creative. Yes that’s right these games cost more than many big budget Hollywood movies. Frankly what this man has done as his… Read more »
@chrisg I am not trying to offend you now but have you ever achieved anything in your life? specially after many years of hard work? because if you did I absolutely dont understand your comments.
In his defense, films critics do not -and should not- give films an “A for Effort.” There’s a lot of effort every year that goes into making bad art- bad music, bad films, bad games, etc. Let him dislike it, it is his prerogative. Perhaps you can enjoy the film for the story of how it came to be, but that does not mean that every viewer should or even can share your experience. Now, I’m not holding my breath, but I’ll give it a chance to be good. At worst, it will be like the Mutant Chronicles film and… Read more »
Really looking forward to this even if it’s just he first 9 mins 🙂
Should watch the horrible ultramarine film before it, anyone else find watching a really bad film makes whatever you watch after better 🙂
It was truly beautiful, got a ghost in the shell vibe off of it.
The inquisitor was a right :censored: and I’m ok with it 🙂
Think I’m going to have to make one of those blimp things asap
Well this is interesting.
This is a disgrace. Hes smoking in a public place. And if thats not bad enough throwing his butts away and littering the place up.
I shall write a very stern letter of complaint to the Health and Safety Officer of the Adeptus Administratum to report this man. Honestly I dont know whats this Universe is coming to……
Seriously… I am not really into 40k but saw this… Then the only words are ripped off Monty Python. Whether it is a low budget or it does not cost anything to be original. So but based on this i would rather face the comfy chair that watch this.
Well that trailer was suitably awful.
It had no Warhammer 40k vibe to it at all, if that’s all we can base it on, it’s not looking good.
On second thoughts let’s not watch Inquisitor, ’tis a silly thing.
Nice trailer … this way we won’t have high expectations of the actual product.
The only way is up, am I rite ? 😉
suppose we should always look on the bright side!!! On a really serious note if this is the standard of this film it will do what every film has done so far to get even a slight interest in the 40K universe. Well their is going to be a feeding frenzy and it ain’t going to be pretty. Sorry it is complete crap IMHO. It may be your thing and if so good for you I am glad someone is delivering what you want, honest, I really am if its your film enjoy it. If you are the anything to… Read more »
You do know it is a fanfil started by one guy and the website now lists 11 people under team, so it’s quite understandable that it dos not look liek a Triple A Hollywood movie, and for me i like what i see so far and i have respect for the time, work and dedication that was put into it. So i will watch it and if it’s good it’s good and if it’s bad it’s just another bad fan movie that won’t hurt my feelings or love for teh setting in any way besides GW themselves are screwing around… Read more »
You’re making a mistake in thinking you can have a proper conversation with chrisg about anything to do with GW.
If you check every thread that is GW related you will always find a negative comment from him.
He could have a point but it’s just drowned out in the hate and bilge he always post.
For a guy who hates GW as much as he does, I think his life would feel a lot less empty if he weren’t able to tell us how he could craft better models himself in his shed for 75p
@warzan can we block Chris G comments please 😛
It’s a teaser not a trailer, stop judging it as if it was a trailer. It’s not a trailer. It’s a teaser.
But the lip sync is pretty awful quite frankly.
Prologue is a bit meh! really
Well done, as this was a project in which people contributed their spare time for no profit I think their work should be applauded and not criticised. So once again, well done and I for one look forward to the rest of the movie.
not long but better than the adds that show the only good bits from the film i suppose.
Great work!
Just had a 9-minute trip into the Imperium of man and I liked it. I think the camera angels and the music really make the atmosphere.
The thought of a young and somewhat nonchalant inquisitor is interesting and inspiring for my own scenarios and ideas.
Great work!
Young is relative – remember the heretic he executes in the prologue is said to be centuries old and only looks sixty or seventy. The Inquisitor could easily be a hundred 😉
Just watched the actual prologue vid and overall I liked it. The environment was a bit cleaner than I’d expect for a hive world, but considering its in a fairly upper class area of Terra (possibly near the palace itself considering the statue of Dorn shown) it’s easy to explain why it’d be like that. Biggest letdown was the problem with the lip sink, but considering its a fan film I’m comfortable with giving the team behind it some slack; I couldn’t do anywhere near as well if I tried lol. Hopefully they can fix this issue between now and… Read more »
As far as the sound sinc is concerned, I’d rather think of this as a work in progress.
fantastic job making so much for free for community, respect Erasmus.
Just watched the Prologue, and I’ll definitely give it a watch. Hoping that our young Inquisitor gets some serious slapping – I don’t fancy rooting for that wee ned* through a whole film. Anyhoo, one of the best fan vids I’ve seen of anything – up there with the glossier Star Wars fan efforts – not perfect, but I’ve seen shoddier “pro” work. We’ve been spoiled by DoW and Mark of Chaos intros over the years, but as this is altogether twice as long as all the GOOD Blur Studios style things and it’s just a snippet of the overall… Read more »
Look forward to seeing the rest. Not overly sold but I do appreciate the dedication and effort that has gone into getting this on screen.
Well, I have seen the Prologue and I have some thoughts after a good night’s sleep. First of all, it is a very nice piece of computer animation set on the Holy Terra. I did not get the Monty Python reference at first so I did not bother. All in all, for me the Prologue focused on the machinations within the nobles. I have really enjoyed it on the animation side. However, what I did not like was: 1) The Terra itself. Too much sunlight and you can see the sky. Not in the 40k I know. 2) Birds? Birds?!… Read more »
Erasmus Brosdau should be applauded for what he has achieved here, it’s still a bit early in my opinion to write about the literary aspects of all this, but as a technical demonstration of his skill, perseverance and vision – taking into account the low budgets and hours poured into this – it is jaw-dropping. These 9 minutes have opened my eyes to a very different way of visualising the imperium, and it’s arrogant pomposity, devoid of the reality of its impending doom just screams off the screen. It’s disappointing to see some commenters, not fully grasping the feat that… Read more »
Yeah that parade was the standout for me. Those few minutes gave me more inspiration for modelling and painting than the entire space marine movie. I’d imagine that is just how a 40k parade would be. You wouldn’t need 1000’s of marines to impress people, they only need to see a handful to understand their power and with the dreadnoughts as well – WOW! Most normal people in the 40k universe would live and die never getting to see a real space marine. I didn’t even notice the lip sync the first time round. I was too busy looking into… Read more »
