Solo & Coop Skirmish Game Rangers Of Shadow Deep Released!

Joseph A. McCullough, the author of Frostgrave has released a new tabletop skirmish game which focuses in on solo and cooperative skirmish gaming on the tabletop. Have you taken a peek at Rangers Of Shadow Deep yet?

"A kingdom stands on the brink of destruction, as the vast realm called the Shadow Deep slowly swallows everything in its path. As the army fights to contain the tide of evil creatures teeming up out of the black clouds, the kingdom’s best soldiers, the rangers, must venture down into the shadows to gather information, rescue prisoners, and ambush enemy supply lines.
It is a desperate fight against overwhelming odds, but every little victory brings another day of hope."
It sounds like a fascinating game and we're very interested in finding out more about this. Solo and Cooperative tabletop skirmish games are a great way to get people involved without the sometimes unwanted competitive edge.
The game has you creating one of the Rangers as well as their compatriots and companions and then heading out to battle against the enemy. If your Rangers survive you'll gain experience, growing in power and ability, before being sent on more deadly quests.
The book above also contains the first expansion for the game, Burning Light.
"In this mission, the rangers must venture to a ruined convent, searching for an ancient artefact. As they choose what order to explore the ruins, and thus the order in which scenarios are played, they must gather clues to the artefact’s location. But they must be quick, for the longer they remain, the more the forces of the Shadow Deep become aware of their presence."

211 pages is too much for me in a PDF rulebook as I much prefer the physical book, lot easier to bookmark to find important rules.
I have all the Frostgrave stuff and as soon as I saw the author, clicked on the link… expecting to be diverted to Osprey…
The author in the comments for the PDF says it is coming he just does not have a date.
Never bought a POD, so not sure what the quality is like. Are they any good, or a bit shoddy compared to a real book?
I’ve bought novels POD from Amazon. The binding, etc was fine (just the content was crap but that’s less of a risk here)

Just saw a demo game, like the story elements in the clues etc….
I picked the PDF up earlier this week and like what I’ve seen so far. The narrative campaign system combined with the cooperative gameplay is a winner for me.
The game and campaign are also quite easy to adapt to different settings like samurai fighting Oni, Witch hunters (which is what I’m going to do) or even scifi (with robots instead of undead).
A printed book is a bit of a must though, at over 200 pages it will be a hassle to get everything printed out by myself.
