Oathmark: Battles Of The Lost Age Rulebook Gets Released!
April 1, 2020 by avernos
Created by Joseph A. McCullough, designer of Frostgrave and Rangers Of Shadowdeep, Oathmark is a mass-battle fantasy wargame that puts you in command of the fantasy army you've always wanted, whether a company of stalwart dwarves or a mixed force with proud elves, noblemen, and wild goblins standing shoulder-to-shoulder in the battle-line.
Fight through an integrated campaign system and develop your realms from battle to battle, adding new territories, recruiting new troop types, and growing to eclipse your rivals…or lose what you fought so hard to gain and fall as so many would-be emperors before you.

You may know that Ben and myself have been champing at the bit for mid-April and Salute to come around to lay our hands on this hardback tome of fantasy joy. Then came the unpleasantness and everything stalled and shut down. We waited. Expectant, for the release date. And now it's here!
North Star and Osprey Publishing have been building towards this release for a while, and the launchpad of Salute was going to herald a new age of fantasy gaming in a Lost Age of Battles (see what I did there, journalism!). The Books are in but the other parts of the launch are still in various states and with the disruption set to continue they've made the decision to launch the game now. Orders at the time of writing have already put a dent in the stock, so if you want an early copy get in soon.
So what does that mean for the big plans and other Oathmark Releases? Well, Nick has let us know that they'll still be making their way to a tabletop near you.
As you can see the elves have a consistent style to their armaments but the head options let you play with pallets, meaning you can play with hooded rangers or helmed light infantry line archers in a uniform. The clean design is going to be a godsend for gamers on the tabletop. Do you want to see the limited edition elf? Are you sure? I've got a photo here, it's no trouble really. Ah sure here, you don't have to look if you don't want to.
Mark Copplestone sculpted and Kevin Dallimore painted, and I for one can't wait to lay my hands on him/her/it. Never check under an elf's robe!
Do you fancy building an Empire?

These elves look more like elves then the aefel…. Cow Horn Head GW thingies.
They are more classic looking Tolkienesque Elves and I enjoy that very much.
Personally I’m more fond of the old GW high elves, but these do have retro appeal to them, and as mentioned, they are clean sculpts so will be easier to paint. Still much better than the gaudy three-bowstring/cow thingie tragedy that GW has now embarked on.
I had hoped they released a PDF too, but the Osprey site tells me 30.04 for the release of the book. Hoping for the PDF by the time.
My guess is it was lined up for the original release date and now with things changing it’s whether they’ve noticed or want to move it now. I’ll ask Pete at Osprey for you
that’d be great i’m also very interested to know, as I pre ordered it from Osprey directly
Looks like it’s released on their site, no pre-order tag. But no PDF yet.
I ordered my from Amazon, so am hoping that mine might arrive a little earlier as well! At least it should help me flesh out my generic dwarf force for this, KoW, WoE and Saga!
Ordered mine at Northstar yesterday and just got the shipping confirm. Worth supporting a small company in tough times for this one I think.
The Elves are lovely. The sorcerer is such a lovely sculpt as well, and the naughty version Kevin Dallimore has painted is even more amazeballs than the elf version. The more they show, the more I think Oathmark could fill the gap between a skirmish game and the massive rank and file battles KoWs does so well.
Great looking classic Elf’s.
I had the rule book pre-ordered thru Amazon. With all of the craziness going on they are saying that it will be at least June before we see it in the US. So I cancelled it and ordered it direct and added a few things 🙂
