New Mighty Nords Take Shape For Para Bellum’s Conquest
November 14, 2019 by brennon
So, I'm excited. This week we got a proper look at the new releases coming our way for Para Bellum Wargames' Nords faction which will be gracing the battlefields of Conquest soon. We lead with their mighty warrior lords who are fighting on the front lines.

If you're doing a Nordic force then you need to have a force led by a Jarl. This character looks absolutely amazing and I love the way that they've managed to bring across a lot of the different aspects from the artwork into his sculpt and really focuses in on that idea of their culture being one driven by the sea and using that for their raids. It's weird seeing a Nordic warrior without an axe but the harpoon looks just as cool.
This is followed up with another epic character addition in the form of the Blooded.
This guy is another ace looking character who has seriously made use of the gym! He has muscles on top of muscles and is about to absolutely cleave someone in twain with that overhand strike which will be shattering shields and sending his foes reeling. Again, I really like the character they've managed to work into the sculpt with the array of masks he has lashed to his belt as trophies and the like.
Wild Wolves
Forming the bulk of your army you're also going to get some great looking line troops. Here we have the Raiders who are your classic bearded and hairy warriors armed with axes and swords, rushing across the battlefield to slaughter your army and then pillage everything that isn't nailed down.
This is a rather typical looking addition into the mix when it comes to line troops. That's cool and all but here is where my eyes nearly popped out of my head. Check out this excellent looking set of troops, the Stalkers.
These are some rather excellent looking miniatures which take on the role of your ranged troops in-game but with a twist. As well as being armed with their traditional looking bows these wolf-blooded warriors also come with some rather brutal looking bladed weapons too. They seem like a really cool upgrade to the idea of 'scouts' in your games and I like the poses as if they're dashing through the woods hunting their prey.
Bellowing Giants
As well as all of these model reveals we also got the epic Mountain Jotnar who so impressed us when we saw early glimpses of this force at events. Armed with a big ol' tree, this fellow is looking to dispense with the Fe Fi Fo Fum and just batter you to death as soon as he spies you.
Very, very cool. I really like what we're seeing from the Nords in Conquest and I think that Para Bellum Wargames has clearly had a lot of fun playing around with the designs for this force. There is something very familiar about this army but with a few tweaks here and there to make it feel a bit more unique. This is certainly something which Para Bellum has been doing across the board with their forces.
So, with the Hundred Kingdoms, Spires, Dweghom and Nords now on the cards for the game are you tempted to dive into Conquest?

the Jotun is going to appear in an awful lot of forces for many games I imagine, look at that fella!
An alternate giant for the mighty KOW.
yup if you want a smaller giant ^^
This is defiantly the faction that captured my imagination when I heard them talked about in y’alls lore talks.
The Jarl looks great.
The Jarl and the Blooded look awesome.
Whenever I hear about Nords or Marauders in wargames, I always expect a band of generic Vikings…thank goodness that Parabellum managed to turn that on its head! These guys look great, and the wolf-blooded warriors make me think of unarmored Space Wolves. Keep it up!
Not working for me.
Yep getting these, my poor wallet!
Great looking figures an jotnar a fantastic centre piece for any army.
That trailer! 😀
NOTE: on the world map, the life tree also shows up as a Spire :O
Cant wait for shape shifters and trolls to come out!
Also just seen today that if you sign up to the news letter you get a 20% discount code ? and they do free shipping
Am liking these because they are the easiest to scale with every other manufacturer’s fantasy ranges. These (and the ogres when they come out) could easily be a frost giant army or fit into a Norse army for say Age of Magic.
I’ve been waiting for Nords stuff to start coming out. Seems that wait is almost over. I know the guys from Para Bellum had mentioned the possibility of doing another two-player starter with Dweghom and Nords in it. Has there been any word on whether that will happen? A friend of mine likes the Dweghom and it would be great to be able to split a starter.
When I spoke with them at UKGE they said they first plan to release a one player starter set of each faction next year and they will be rereleasing the two player starter as you said but there was no time scale on that. I imagine they will want the 1st 2 player set to run its course first
This is one reason I’m holding off buying a giant. Nords are definitely my faction of choice but, given they’ll be releasing three different types of giant, I don’t really want more than one Mountain Jotunn. That’s as much a storage issue as anything. I assume a faction starter would probably have one in it, so I’ll wait.
It’s a great game, but suffering from over extending already. They are promising amazing models and about 18 factions! Yet they have characters out you can’t use. Thrust priest is out but not the unit he can go in to actually play a game with him. I wish they would fix the initial factions first and give us release dates for being able to actually use 2000 points before hyping themselves up for something that is years away. I understand they need to keep the hype train going for new customers and getting and maintaining market traction, but it just… Read more »
They said in one of their interview videos that their plan was to get the initial four factions out with enough of the trimmings to get players into the game right away, and once they’re all out, flesh them out with the rest of the characters and units. Once that’s done, they’ll start moving onto the next couple of factions (City-States, Wurdrun, Weaver Courts), and repeat the process. It’s a bit like GW where they space out the release schedule in order to keep from being overwhelmed with pre-orders while giving people the essentials they need to start.
Over extending? This makes no sense, they’re spending a solid year releasing the 1st four factions to their fullest in time for organised play to be set up. A Theist priest will be fully fieldable by then.
Only then, are they moving into other factions.
Nothing to fix that time wont mend
Which is great to see the commitment in getting the full 4 factions, love this game. My concern I was trying to raise was they are hyping up norse yet have failed to deliver Dwarves, after hyping them up for preorder just like they are doing with nords. Yet nothing on the website that I could find lists any dates at all. Also I have bought some started boxes. I bought the Theist Priest – but I cannot use him for maybe a full year????? To me that shows a bit of a rush to get units out and a… Read more »
Yes. You are being really impatient XD They are setting out to release 4 full factions in just a year and suffered an issue with logistics at initial release. That delay is slowly being ironed out but it’s still having an affect. The 1st wave was a couple of months whereas Nords went onto pre release a couple of weeks late. Although it could have been resolved quicker and be done with it, they decided to take the opportunity to improve their logistic chain so once they’re back on track, they’ll be more efficient. All these announcements get made regularly… Read more »
Love the Nords . I would love to paint those! And the giant would be good for any number of other games!
Bam ? very swish indeed, its tempting to start a new project
Not interested in the actual game but the models are absolutely brilliant.
