Are you prepared to die? The Dark Souls universe is one that I truly adore. Deep in lore, story and brutality. Myself, I have dipped into the painful world with just my toe. Just playing through Bloodborne, when I felt ready enough after watching a close friend make their way through Dark Souls and Demon Souls. I personally found watching the series of games fold-out was a more enjoyable experience for me, as I personally do not have the patience or skill to survive the dying simulator! But felt so connected to the world, I wanted to learn more.

Steamforged Games announced last year that there would be a Dark Souls RPG utilising Dungeons & Dragons 5e rules. Now, the publisher has released some new information about the upcoming title. Including a cheeky look at the cover and how a player could present themselves in the anticipated RPG.

Steamforged Games shared in their progression with the title, sharing details regarding the upcoming release in how the game is played. Whilst utilising the 5e game system, players will see a tweak with some savage and brutal additions. As Steamforged Games confirmed some "unique new Dark Souls Mechanics". There will be bespoke character creation, a magic system to fit the theme and a wide bestiary that pull the monsters off the screen and into an easy reference for adventuring.

This is not the first Dark Souls title that Steamforged Games have developed. Being one of the first IPs to team up with Steamforged Games way back when with an established board and card game experience.

"We wanted to capture the spark of the video games and deliver a roleplaying experience that would give players the real Dark Souls feel, whether they're rolling a unique character from one of the bespoke classes, creeping through the ruins of Lothric and encountering familiar characters, or engaging in tactical combat against an iconic video game enemy. "With the passion of our team and the writing of our lead RPG writer, ENNIE-nominee Richard August, we're confident we've done just that. We can't wait for players to get their hands on this game and experience roleplaying like never before. One thing's for sure: Prepare To Die."

The tabletop RPG is set to go on pre-order in February 2022. So don't you worry about heading over to Kickstarter as this title is heading straight to retail.

This might be my chance to actually play through Dark Souls myself, rather than being a fly on the wall! Although I do anticipate I am still going to die as much.

Do you think this may be a way to bring more players to the franchise?
