Bow-Chosen & Monstrous Trolls Coming To The Nords Of Conquest!
January 21, 2021 by brennon
A selection of stunning 35mm miniatures are going to be arriving on storefronts soon for those playing as the Nords in Conquest: The Last Argument Of Kings or their skirmish game, First Blood. We start with Para Bellum's preview of the Bow-Chosen.

These new miniatures are some of the best that I think I've seen from the team at Para Bellum and give you a selection of incredibly detailed resin miniatures to add into your raiding force of Nords. I am a big fan of Vikings anyway and when you combine that with these deadly bow-armed hunters you're onto a winner.
Bow-Chosen Miniatures // Conquest The Last Argument Of Kings
Each of the miniatures is full of motion and tells a different story. You really get a sense for them as individual fighters I think who have their own style in battle. They remind me of the Named Men that you might see amongst the Northmen in Joe Abercrombie's First Law Fantasy series.
Bow-Chosen Miniatures // Conquest: The Last Argument Of Kings
Deployed behind enemy lines by cunning Jarls, these Bow-Chosen are some of the hardest fighters out there. They are tasked with infiltrating the enemy lines and scuppering their plans before they can be revealed. As soon as I saw these I was totally on board with the look and design and I could see folks picking these up even if they don't play Nords!
Trolls!
If you're still not entirely sold on the idea of playing as The Nords then how about I show you these new Trolls which are coming down the pipeline fast as well?
Trolls // Conquest: The Last Argument Of Kings
Many people amongst The Nords know of the blood bond which was sealed with the Trolls when they bested the Jotnar and that alliance still bears fruit to this day. Trolls are often found at the vanguard of a Nord force and benefit from cruel and dangerous weapons as well as the ability to heal grievous wounds.
Troll Miniatures // Conquest: The Last Argument Of Kings
These are, again, some brilliant miniatures which show off a set of brutal warriors which are set to lay low their foes. I like this take on them which gives them a bit more of a gangly feel and it puts me in mind of the style of Troll you might see in old artwork and folklore tales.
Troll Miniatures // Conquest: The Last Argument Of Kings
When they are all ranked up as you see above I think you get a real sense of how they might dominate the battlefield. They are going to be a little bigger than your average soldier and the amount of skin on show means that they should break up that sea of fur and leather you get with The Nords.
Unleash Your Rage
We finish off with a new character model for those playing as The Nords. Here we have a Shield-Biter.
Shield Biter // Conquest: The Last Argument Of Kings
Blessed with the fury and rage of their forebears, the Shield Biters are unleashed by their Jarls to do as much damage as they can before they succumb to their wounds. Filled with fire and fury, you could do worse when it comes to choosing a champion to represent you on the tabletop.
Whilst they will have a place in the big battles of The Last Argument Of Kings, I could see this being a great choice for First Blood too.
Are you liking these new previews for The Nords and the world of Conquest?

The Bow Chosen really look awesome.
Para Bellum does amazing resin models…
I only got one of their resin models, the human priest but that model is great and I would say the plastic models from the starter aren’t too bad.
The bow Chosen are a big step up from everything I have seen in the range. Just awesome.
So I think one reason they look so good is they are resin sculpts and not the sprues of plastic… downside is they are more expensive, but they are beautiful.
Love the Bow-Chosen. Trolls look good as well. I like that they’re a different take than the usual long nose, squat look.
The Shield biter’s pose is good but something about his face throws me a bit. Also not sure what’s going on with the weapons sticking out of the ground behind him. Might look better from a different angle though.
Just amazing sculpts and design all around. Para Bellum put so much attention into the detail of the mini that even the rank and file units are simply lovely.
Those look really good.
So shiny! I haven’t been tempted by anything in this range until now.
interesting aesthetic on the chosen!
The figures look exceptional an no doubt John Lyons will make good use of the new unit’s.
These hopefully will be a nice boost to the Nords arsenal… 2 wounds? better ranged units? another cleave 2 melee unit? yes please…
That said .. 38 mm game… lol.. not just 35mm! lol
