BlizzCon 2017 Shows Off 10,000 3D Printed Miniature Diorama
November 6, 2017 by thisisazrael
At BlizzCon 2017 Blizzard has created a simply incredible diorama where every miniature is an actual 3D printed model of the characters owned by BlizzCon attendees!
The diorama was created to celebrate the new expansion for World of Warcraft, Battle of Azeroth.
The diorama extends to a 1,300 square foot area!
Blizzard randomly selected 10,000 attendee characters to make up the scene.
Each miniature includes the race, class and armour that your digital character would be wearing in their in-game armoury.
Blizzard now holds the Guinness World Record for largest video game diorama!
They even provided a grid map to help you go and find your character...
If you're a fan of World of Warcraft then you'd sure as hell want to get stuck in and find yourself amidst this awesomeness right?
What do you think of this truly massive undertaking?
Amazing effort – I can hardly imagine the time it took to print all those miniatures! At a minimum there must be 10,000+ hours of printing there (it could easily be more).
Come on Blizz, at least 3 colours up! xD
Trolling aside, it looks epic.
#d printing hey?? I take it that they didn’t use the same printer as Warzan.
3d …… (Why did I try to capitalise the ‘3’? …..Idiot!)
We can do better! How about a BoW challenge. We send in printed miniatures over the course of a year to see if we can make a BoW community battlefield. 🙂
Who’s, going to paint all the figures on that table?
No one …… bloody Video gamers … they have no soul. 😉
That is amazing.
I wonder if this was sort of a test run for their own miniatures should they ever decide to do their own in house production and expand their lines.
I highly doubt it. Their revenue is in the billions, they could probably buy the entire miniature gaming scene with their spare change if they wanted to.
love it that looks ace.
It’s good to see someone that has more unpainted mini’s than me.
I “Lol”d , cheers 😀
Fantastic! Even made me lose my coffee.
I laughed, I was satisfied this was accurate …. then the question hit how many do I have …
And how does one find oneself in the mobs?
And now I know where my subscription money went for.
This looks great, but I read a few articles about this expansion that talk about Blizzard wants to put WAR back in to Warcraft. But they are just giving us more MMO and not RTS. If they really wanted to put the WAR back in to Warcraft that is what they should do.
Also @mage Blizzard DID have a miniature game a while ago with prepaints if I remember correctly.
Very interesting @spacewolflord I will have to give it a google
@spacewolflord completely agree re:not being good mmo story, would work for a new rts.
The game was from cyrptozoic, pre-paint were terrible to the point I never picked it up and it died very quickly so no idea if rules were any good.
Meh, unpainted… 😉
Oh my god…. so … blue and red : D
Woonder if the will make the files available and freeeeeee
