The Wrath of the Circle Orboros Strides into Hordes

Thanks to our Warmachine Tzar Dais for bringing this to our attention! Check out the Woldwrath Gargantuan for the Circle Orboros in the game of Hordes by Privateer Press...
Now that is one serious bit of kit. Living stone bringing death and destruction to those who would trespass in the realm of the Orboros. The important thing is what you folks think about it though.
Is this Gargantuan up to scratch?
Looks to top heavy for the legs…
Yeah, the proportions on a lot of the PP minis really put me off. I like the basic concept, a skirmish game based around big steampunk robot type stuff, but I don’t find the Warjacks and whatever this is aesthetically pleasing.
It looks a lot like bulkhead from transformers…
“BRANCHOBOTS, ROOT OUT!”
Have you seen Galleon? it bares a striking resemblance to Lugnut.
I had hoped they would come up with a huge warbeast creature (similar to the mountain king) and not a construct. I thought about getting myself an orboros army and I was really excited about their gargantuan but this (unfortunately) just doesn’t do it for me …
I was in the same camp. I really like the Orboros beasts and wasn’t too keen on the constructs, but two things changed my mind.
1. I saw the WIP of this model and thought it was awesome.
2. I got my ass handed to me by a guy with an all-construct army. Seriously, it was embarrassing. Those constructs hit like mountains.
I’m building a Menoth army right now that I’m planning to pursue as my primary faction for a while, but when I start to feel the itch for a second faction Orboros is going to be it.
Looks like Circle Orboros will bring the Clan invasion to the Inner Sphere…I love that Mad Cat mech!
I hope it was not just me that noticed the um, protruding crotch rune.
PP does seem to blow hot and cold on minis- in the flesh im sure this has some nice touches but the photo IMO is not enthralling me- I keep thinking donkey kong meets stone age transformers
I’ve always liked the style of the Circle constructs, and this is no real exception though perhaps I would tinker with it a little to make it slightly less top heavy.
My only problem with the constructs is that while the models are well detailed (and I especially like the one with the large flat hammer fists) I always have this feeling in the back of my mind that given some foam, wooden parts and other odds and ends I could build my own for a fraction of the cost and not too much more effort.
I feel the same way. The pricing on the engines, colossalls, and gargantuans is insane.
The thing about this Gargant is that you have to think of it like a giant ape. Check out the cancept art in the new No Quarter mag. The model is rearing up.
I think the pose is misleading on this one, I’ll be painfully readjusting it. The Woldwrath is a giant gorilla type construct. I like the model overall though. http://minimusingofabear.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/woldwrath.jpg Tested out the rules on this one as well (check out NQ 43). His animus is a big deal to a faction where there is a lot of magic ability 7 crit knockdown effects, that now can hit all the time. It really effects the game of every caster but Kromac and eKaya. The gun is great but always boost to hit. There is a way around spell ward with animi… Read more »
