great to see more plastic heroes.
That Nurgle champion looks really nice. Love the corroded details on his armour and axe. I wish he had a litte bit more armour on him. I might get him for Mordheim as a corrupted executioner or something. The Lizardmen hero is ok, but a bit too blocky for my taste.
I’d love to see GW producing similar one hero plastic packs for 40K.
They do. These aren’t ‘packs’. They’re static models that you just clip together with no freedom of movement.
Well I can only think of one and that’s the space marine commander. Ok, Tau have their crisis suits and maybe a few others, but they’re out of the current WHFB plastic one hero model sets price range. As for the models being static one pose. I really don’t give a damn as long it looks good and plastic is the easiest material to convert. If I have to choose to pay 10,50€ for one model without any options or pay somewhere around 17€ for one model with options, I’ll pay the 10,50€ as you’ll get left over bits from… Read more »

Not bad at all, good to see more dwarf stuff. Nurgle champion is pretty snazzy and would fit into Mordheim…very cool.
really liking the look of that nurgle lord he looks really rather disgusting 😀 Not a fan of the saurus oldblood he looks really ungainly as if hes about to fall over.
That’s it! Gamesworkshop actually make me sick. Who’s running the show! ? The plastic new models, amazing as they are (GW always make great models), might as well have been made in Finecast. The cost £8.00 (£8.00!!!) so they might as well have Finecasted them and sold them for the standard £9.50. This makes me sick because the main reason to make something in plastic is to make a sprue with multiple options (different arms and weapons etc); and also allow for maximum positioning (different poses, torso that can be angled etc). From what I understand, plastic is only cheaper for GW to produce if they can guarantee a certain number of sales. It costs them much more to set up the moulds for a plastic miniature than for metal of Finecast, but once the mould is set up, production costs are very much lower. As for the limited posability, I don’t mind that at all. The recent Brian Nelson sculpts, which include the Nurgle chap here, the plastic Cairn Wraith and the Banshee, are superbly posed and balanced. I think you might be on to something. I was always confused as to why they didn’t bring out plastic command kits for all armies. I heard they DID have a Dwarf command plastic kit but it was scrapped at the last minute before it went on sale (anyone confirm this?). Kits like the Empire General and Wizard may not coup the cost of the molds, I do think computer-aid is linked to this move (CADCAM?). All the models that are “blocky” (I disagree) are the product of software aid. This speeds up the entire process and makes everything faster.… Read more »
Am i the only one that hasn’t bought anything from GW since the price rise and Finecast came out? Lets face it theres much better things out there for much less. I might sound bitter but i played GW stuff for most of my life but they’ve just gone to far.
Your not alone. I haven’t bought any GW stuff since the last price hike and finecast rip-off. That doesn’t restrict me from liking the stuff they’re putting out. If I’m to buy some of their stuff this year it’ll probably be one of the plastic hero sets for WHFB which I’ll buy because I like the model and I’ll find some use for it in games that I play.
I bought quite a large amount of Finecast 🙁 and it was actually all excellent. But I’m not a gamer, so buy for the aesthetics and painting/modeling experience. If I was a gamer, I would never be able to afford to play it. The prices were all horrific apart from the Wracks which were worth the money imo. I was in GW last month and one of the staff was trying to sell the hobby to a five year old kid, I swear. The child was throwing dice all over the table, throwing the models around. Nope, theres lots of things I’d -like- to do but it’s gotten far too expensive for me over the past few years so I’ve forced to just quit buying due to being priced-out – still have plenty to paint lying around though so it’s not a bad thing really.

i have bought nowt from them in ages. i just cannot bring myself to do it i went in to a store on weekend past to get a herald of tzeentch. and left with a sad feeling in my heart and nothing bought i just cannot justify £22.50 i almost choked when i saw it . and all the gw android had to say was “yeah its a good model” i feel sorry for them to be honest.. now i do collect most of the armies from 40k so there was always something i needed or wanted i really never… Read more »
GW scenery is actually well worth the money you spend on them. Possibly has something to do with the fact that their scenery has to compete with others major scenery builders in the market, not to mention the fact that you can make your own at home if you have talent.
I’m always impressed with GW’s scenery and their cheap-reasonable costs. Shame about everything else they make
Well, I personally prefer plastic miniatures over pewter or Finecast most of the time. Thus I like new plastics out of principle (as long as they look nice ;-). It is true though that they are far from optimal with the lack of the range of options like in the excellent general kits that have already been mentioned. I see them more in comparison to the old pewter characters where we only got few/no options as well. And nobody really complained there, too. I don’t see much difference between Finecast and Plastic in terms of the actual item, other than Finecast allows for better sculpts and higher detail – as you can only do so much with plastic. I am a big fan of the Finecast, abstractly. Cost and quality control obviously make it a joke. At £1.50 cheaper than the Finecast versions I am baffled. Again, I’m guessing part of the reason for that £8 price tag is “gamers will only ever buy one model of each” < WHO'S fault is that then! Apart from the two plastic non-poseable, ultra-expensive, too-smooth and not-too-well sculpted heroes.
Just old metal models “finecasted”.

The finecast single-dwarf models always leave me with a nasty taste in my mouth! £9.50 for a tiny dwarf really brings out the “price tag” problem most of us have with Finecast.
Really punches me in the gut considering I’m a dwarf collector lol
I saw these already on GWs site and I must say im still not a finecast fan but I am happy to see more plastic hero models.
They do look rather cool. Despite all the GW political nonsence.
i think the nurgle lord looks cool. the saurus seriously sucks though. i’ve not bought any GW models new since about january. these do nothing to change my mind. when they bring out something worth the price they ask for it i might reconsider.

That saurus is an awful mess of angles, with too much junk on him and a bad pose it looks like. Sometimes, I think the ability of CAD design gets away from the sculptor.
The other one looks fine, even if he seems very limited in what you can do with him. And Finecast? Well, it’s Finecast. Not much to say on that that hasn’t already been said a thousand times.
Even though I have a Nurgle themed Fantasy army and the new Champion does look rather decent, I know I won’t be getting this. I have enough converted Champs to last for a while and the cost is just… no.
Now if Mantic brought out a seperate, plagued up human army my wallet would be out.
I’ll be objective as much as I can. The dwarf finecast look rather old as if just re-cast in resin. The king is the best of them, the grudge thrower crew look ugly. The doomflayer looks good with the only issue being the odd position of the knife arm. The 2 new plastic very for me. The chaos warrior is great as it’s flesh is well shaped and has a level of detail that is high but not cluttered. The Finecast is ok, they’re old models and whilst it’s a nice idea to have them available in a lighter material I am still having issues with bad finecast casts. While I’m not a fan of Nurgle or Lizards I like the two characters. The poses have some really interesting angles to them and the way they have intertwined the Nurgle champion’s guts with his axe handle is quite good. Once more the ‘Eavy Metal paint job is a bit dull but I guess it gives a clear indication of the sculpt. I prefer the plastics because they are simple… Read more »
I don’t particularly like the new Nurgle champion…it’s his head…the helmet just looks at odds. I have always like Nurgle even back in the older editions but this miniature just seems meh to me. compared to some of the older Nurgle realeses it pretty bog standard…..I mean why is Nurgle miniatures are all fat and bloated, yes I know decay etc…but look at the Nurgle Lord on the Horse….he isn’t a overweight blob of flesh and I have to say he looks amazing one of my fav minatures 🙂
